I have a question, I've heard people say that there is somebody to greet you when you are staying CL. How do they know you're coming? Do they keep track of the flights and ME? If you fly on an earlier or later flight due to delays and cancellations, do you call ahead?

I know it does take quite some time heading back from DTD to BC/YC, but I haven't had a hard time going TO DTD, so maybe take the bus there and then the cab back??

Of course just as soon as I say this, you will have an hour long process trying to get there

Every year I tell DH we are taking the cab, and every year we wind up waiting forever for the return bus!!!

But this year.......................

that must be how they do it. The first time we stayed at YC, we were the only family on ME getting down there. As soon as we walked off we were greeted by name (and we weren't even staying CL that year).

I'm sure if there are several families that all get off at BC or YC, it will be a bit harder for them to find out who is who! but there will be a greeter outside ready to show you in

I'm not the expert on this, but I do know they have a couple of ways to track where you are at. They can track the flights, and they also can track when you get on ME, since they scan a bar code as you enter the ME line and board the bus. If your flight does change, it wouldn't hurt to let them know if you can, but don't worry at all if you can't.

There are many stories of people being met as they step off the bus, and just as many stories of people not being met. If no one steps up to greet you, just let one of the CMs know that you are staying CL and they will get someone to bring you up to the CL check in.

On our last trip (at YC) we took an early evening flight home, but ran out of vacation steam by noon, so we spent a couple of hours just relaxing in the lobby. We moved out to the porte coerche area about 30 minutes before the ME arrived and it was great to see how the CMs manage to make everyone feel like they are being personally welcomed. The CMs had a clipboard with everyone's expected arrivals and departures. They were continually reviewing it and as someone would arrive they would glance down, try to match the person to their list and then walk up to greet them. Most often the guests would give them enough clues to help the CM figure out who they were and give them a personal greeting.

When we arrived at the YC I was bouncing out of my seat, so after I ran down the steps of the ME, I went straight up to the nearest CM and said "I'm Janet". He immediately looked at his clipboard and figured out who we were, based on our family number, child age, my first name etc. It was easy for him to then respond with "Ah yes, the ____ family. We've been expecting you. Let me get someone to take you upstairs.

Such a nice touch to be personally greeted and just another way the Disney trains their staff to offer such great service.

We have stayed at BCV twice. Our requests were 1) close to BC Marketplace and 2) full balcony. The 1st time we had a view of the courtyard that you walk thru to get to BC from BCV. The 2nd time we had a somewhat wooded view, but we could clearly see Illuminations. Both were fantastic locations.

I can't remember if this is what we did when we stayed at BWV or BCV, but we would get tired of sitting on the bus thru all the stops on the way back from a park or DD so we would get off at Swan or Dolphin and then walk to wherever we were staying. We would always beat the bus. Now that I think about it it was probably BWV. Would that work staying at YC?

Thanks for the response! I'll call DVC tomorrow and put a request in and then wait and see what I get! July seems sooooo far away.... good thing I'll be there next month... not at BCV, but at Saratoga Springs (never stayed there before) it's the year of Disney trips for me!!

Your welcome 1971! My responses to your responses will now be in PURPLE!

Background Info: DD6 is a good swimmer and last week during swim lessons did the whole length of the pool without a floatie. However, even with continuous swim lessons we as always need to keep a good eye on her. I am still bringing her floatie because we are not permitting her in deep water without the floatie and a close eye OR her without a floatie and DH or I with her.

1. Does anyone else have some good spots by SB where I can keep an eye on DD6, but it's not that noisy? The sandy space is to "little kid" for her.

I'd recommend the spot right in front of the back of Hurricane Hannah's, which is where they sell the pool toys, rent rafts and rent lockers. This is right at that area where they play volleyball. On the map you will see a large pool area behind Hurricane Hannah's. The other front side of HH's is the seating area and walkway by the lake.

While at the hotel pool, you will see an area with an overhead line covered with pool noodles. There is alot of seating, the water is elementary school age friendly as far as the depths are concerned and I'm pretty darn sure they have life vests somewhere at the pool that she can use. This area is also perfect for her because it's where they traditionally play the pool games in the afternoon and that attracts a lot of kids her age to that area, so hopefully she can find a friend to play with.

Thanks Ninja Mom - I will try.

2. I know she will love the pool slide, but how noisy is it over by this section?

I'm not sure about the little pirate slide area but the area where the big slide dumps out is not too noisy because the kids using the slide are too busy high tailing it out of that area to get back to the slide line.

Unfortunately, my DD6 likes to keep up with her DSis16 and DBro13 so she will be going down the big pool slide. (She's been going down the Poly slide since she was 2 - my little adventurer.) I am wondering how the area is surrounding where the big pool slide ends, anyone?

To me, that area was nice and leafy, not too crowded or large of an area and, depending on the time of day, it had seating in the sun, or in the back, in the shade (a little shade). I think you and her will be fine in that area. The sight lines to the water are good and although it is right near an entrance to the pool (it's hidden around a leafy corner so you can't see it) it's not one of the main entrances like the ones near the hotel. It's not noisy at all in that area but I will say when they start the games in the afternoon the speakers are going to be heard in many areas of Storm Along Bay.

The Yacht Club and the Beach Club also have quiet pools. That means there is what ever noise the guests make. There is no music piped in or organized games conducted by the hotel.

At times, I've seen (other) people make out these hotel pools to be a hive of noise and raucous activity. The nice thing about staying at a deluxe hotel is that there are lots of areas where you can go to relax and get off the beaten paths. The YC/BC has 4 pool areas that guests can use, all with different levels of activity and noise, depending on the location and activity schedule. People, if they are patient and reasonable, are bound to find something to their liking at this wonderful resort.

3. For anyone who has gone in June, how crowded will the pool be (scale 1 - 10; 10 being insane)?

Have not gone in June so I can't help you there!

I'll keep trying, but basically the worst case scenario would work as well when the hotel is at or almost at capacity. How busy has anyone seen it?

I seem to remember from reading this thread that the crazy times are the 4 weeks in July and the first two in August. I think you could say that about all the resorts in the Orlando area so it's not really a BC/YC thing. It's a more like that's when EVERYBODY is on vacation and things are maxed out.

4. With the chance of My Disney Experience being in place by our June trip has anyone heard if the bracelet will work for admission into SB or will we have to wear two bracelets?

We have not heard yet about how the bracelets will effect Storm Along Bay. Many of us are asking this question but no information is forthcoming as of yet. Stay tuned for further details.

Thanks . I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything that I might have missed.

In my experience, the ride TO DTD has not been too bad- I would take the bus.

My family does not enjoy the bus FROM DTD to BC. We have experienced long waits for the bus. The bus is always crowded. With people who may have had too much to drink. And then the bus makes many, many stops. That can take 45 min. to an hour and is not pleasant.

I suggest taking a cab from DTD.

My family has come up with another solution- we take one of the DTD resort boats, to POR or OKW or SS, and then take a bus to EPCOT. Then enjoy some attractions on our way back to BC.

Is it quicker? Probably not.

But it is oh, so much more pleasant. I write about this in my trip report. You can find the posts about this on Page 1, in the Other Useful Info Post, at the very end of that post.

I am sorry, but the other responses you received to this question were wrong. I was told by a very reliable source that pixie dust is how they know.

Does anyone know what time they start and stop the watercraft to the HS and Epcot? Is it 1 hour before opening and 1 hour after closing? I have a lagoon view and want to leave the balcony door open but don't want to listen to the horns from the boats late at night or early in the morning.

Off subject I love this thread the way it is!!!! If someone is having a bad day or family problems it is nice to have kind people from this thread helping and offering their support.

I will post my response using the colour "DarkOrchid"

We took Dee's advice on our last trip and loved the boat ride from DTD to POR. It was such a nice trip down the river. It is not fast, but it is relaxing. I'm sure we will build in time to do it again on our next trip.

My husband still talks about that boat ride being a highlight of the trip.

Here is the link to the post in my TR that describes the evening we took the boat ride. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=207

nanette, I am also a fan of woods view at BCV but when we need an accessible two BR we know we'll have pool view. Also lovely.

Dee, you do a fantastic job with this thread. Thanks for all your hard work.

Fellow Y&BC fans, I do have a tiny suggestion that might help the thread from going so fast at least in terms of pages. If we all just quote the relevant portion of someone's post or even not quote but just address the poster, it would cut down on the sheer volume of the thread. That way Dee wouldn't have to start a new one quite as often and questions might not get lost (even though that rarely happens...perhaps no one knows the answer to any given question). Quoting photos makes it even worse KWIM? Just my two cents.

PixarMom, hope you are having a great trip. Can't wait to see your photos.

And here is my off topic report. We returned this week from our first Aulani stay. Oh, my. Disney magic at its best.

Thanks again, Dee.

I think this is on topic as I would be curious as to how staying at Aulani compared with staying at the BC/YC/WDW resorts.

If you'd like to fill us in it would be helpful, not to mention enjoyable. My husband is always wanting to do something different and understanding the differences between the two resorts would be welcome.

Did they have Club level at Aulani? How was the pool and how did it compare to Storm Along Bay? Any other comparable amenities or major differences?

You see I am trying to luring you into giving us more information. Communication is good! We can hear your impressions of the Beach Club/YC/BCV AND Aulani.... it's a win win!

Don't be afraid! Come and talk to us about your experience! Heck we can even ask questions about your trip and be patient and wait until you have the time to respond. We love it when you talk pretty about Disney vacations to us!

I agree with others. It's about a 5-10 minute walk (I walk quickly and I'm a New Yorker so it may take others longer ). I thought it was just counter service (to go) but I've only been there once.

Love the colors.

A bottle of wine sounds like a good idea, Nanette. Seriously, I have stayed in a one BR with our younger son who has Down Syndrome and felt perfectly safe on the woods side. Maybe just request anything but first floor with a note that you will be a single woman traveler?

I haven't done a trip report about Aulani but have posted a bit on the DVC forums. wdrl has a great thread with tons of info on Aulani.
