question about British tv
Ok last night BBC America premiered the show Ripper street. There were a couple of scenes where ladies had their breasts partially exposed. So they had to fuzz out part of the exposed breast. Now when that show aired in Brittan were they not fuzzed out? I ask because I've noticed it a few times on other British shows with similar scenes. Is nudity portrayed differently across the pond? I don't know why we (Americans) are so hung up on nudity.
Side note: I don't know what I would do with out BBC America I love that station. I about died when satellite radio did away with BBC radio1 (except on Saturday), that was the only thing I listened to when I drove to work. |

Ripper Street was played on BBC with nudity. We have a 9:00pm "watershed" where such scenes would not be aired before that time.

Generally speaking after 9pm they can show nudity, violence, sex and bad language on Uk TV. I think there is a different attitude to nudity over here ... especially in Europe where people often sunbathe on beaches topless and no one bats an eyelid. I think there is also considerably more sex and nudity on European TV.

I remember when Dustin Hoffman was on the Graham Norton show and was able to say what he liked (including swearing) and he said that he would never have been able to be like that on US TV..He seems to be a frequent-ish visitor to that show now
