Sara Mom, We are first time cruisers and DVC members also. Was wondering what the DVC members presentation was all about. Were they just trying to sell more points or was their anything else involved. As a DVC member did you get any perks.

Costa Maya
Ok...so I have misplaced my trip notebook while cleaning for the holidays. So here is what I recall from looking at photos.
A bit of ping pong before breakfast and off the pool we went. After some swimming there were some character greetings. Finally land! ![]() Quick picture I took in the plaza. ![]() We had booked the Mayan ruins through the ship. Not a cheap excursion. I looked into doing the excursion through Native Choice, but decided to stick with cruise line tour and I’m glad we did. We did see the Native Choice smaller buses at the site, but they were smaller 15 passenger type vans with bench seats. Through the cruise line, we were 1 of 3 tour buses with comfortable seats for the hour or so drive to and from. My comfort was worth the extra cost! You can climb this about 10-15 steps up. ![]() To the right of last picture. ![]() map ![]() These plants were everywhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() Biggest ant trail we have ever seen! It ran the length of the previous picture. It was a community gathering area. (we were not the only people to take pictures of these ants!) ![]() Somewhere in this tree there is a monkey. many people tried pointing it out to me, but I never did see it. ![]() This was on the top part of the park...up TONS of steps. You could stand on the ruins, but not very far up. ![]() What do you see?

ruins
DH wants to go see the ruins. Is it worth the money? We have 3 kids under the age of 10 and I hate for them not to allow my DH and I to enjoy the wonderful Mayan structures.

Great trip report! Two questions- we are sailing on Feb. 16th. What time did you get of the ship in Grand Cayman? Out itinerary says 11:30 and that doesnt seem long enough to do the turtle farm on our own. Also, the ruins, I have a ten year old recovering from a sprained ankle. How much walking? Uneven terrain? If she gets tired is it possible for us to just stop with the tour and go back to the beginning? Thanks for the info.

I can't believe I missed this trip report! I love it!
The picture you took of the aqua slide with the sea is beautiful. At first I couldn't figure it out! ![]() Can't wait for more

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for posting pics of the Turtle Farm. We'll be visiting there in April. I keep reading that snorkel lagoon has a bit of algae in it? Was it icky? Lots of algae? It looks like you can see some in the pics? Looks like the freshwater pool was great! Can't wait to try out that slide! Do they allow 2 at a time on it? We've got a 3 yo that would love it (with mommy with her). Thanks again for the pics!
Oh and how much trouble do ya think I'd get in for trying to smuggle one of those adorable little turtles back home with me?!
