Dinner at Cabanas on the Fantasy
Hi. Can anyone share their experiences with this? How was the food/service? Was it crowded or ghost town? Would you do it again? Thanks for the help!

It was a ghost town. We saw one other family during the time we were there. The food was EXCELLENT, as was the service. Honestly, it was much nicer than the MDRs....but we had a sub-optimal MDR experience due to a family seated nearby who literally allowed their child to run around the dining room when they got tired of him screaming in the high chair.
We definitely plan to eat at the pool deck restaurant on our next cruises based on our Magic and Fantasy experiences. If there was a negative, it was that the dessert choices were a bit limited. |

I agree! We did this once on the 2nd part of our B2B, when we had already experienced the MDR. There was no one around. Service was great and menu was great! Similar choices from the MDR, just a few less choices... Go for it!

I went to Cabanas several times after 1st seating dinner just to grab some dessert to go (we left the MDR early due to a figetty toddler) . Each time there were several tables, but it was not busy. The staff was very nice and ready to serve.

Our experience in June 2012 was that we were seated instantly, but it wasn't quite a ghost town, either. We were late arriving back to the ship from Cozumel and we didn't feel it would be polite for our servers if we showed up to the main dining room around 6:20 or so since dinner would be well underway by that time.
As others have said, the selections are slightly less than the MDR, but there is a sufficient amount to select from. Keep in mind Cabanas is where they train new servers in the evening. While they may just be learning the ropes, they are also very eager to provide you with top-notch service.

Thanks everybody! Great opinions. I think I love the planning and research of the trip, almost as much as the trip itself. This will be our third cruise(first on the Fantasy). You think I would act cooler and more my own age. Nope. Still excited like it's our first cruise.
