All things you can do by booking with another agency (like Costco) but you loose the benefit of hundreds of dollars ..... for no reason.

Yes I've heard people who book direct make that statement which I don't understand. I went through Costco and was able to make dinner reservations, excursions, etc. myself on the Disney website. I don't think Costco really did much of anything other than send me a $595 cash card.

Which brings up the question when will the cruise lines wise up and start gettting rid of the booking agency comissions? With all of the information available on the web I don't really see what service the travel agencies are providing? I'm sure some will say that people need the help just like they did when the airlines started cutting commissions and forcing people to book themselves on the web.

You cannot change your reservation or category by yourself if you have a TA. Disney won't talk to you about those things.

I am cruising Disney on the Fantasy for the first time right after Thanksgiving. I met a TA on another board and have been very happy. Maryk at cruising.com.

We booked through Dreams Unlimited and got a $100 onboard credit...plus some pressure for my parents' booking information so that she could link our reservations and dinner seatings. My parents had booked directly through DCL and did not want their reservation transferred so we ignored/denied her requests. I think that asking once would have been acceptable (in case we/they were interested), however multiple requests were kind of annoying. Also, I was able to call DCL with our reservation numbers and link them myself with no problem whatsoever - very friendly service.
If not for the onboard credit available through TAs, I'd just book directly through DCL because I didn't feel like the TA really did anything for us.

Exactly what I do with Stephanie at Mousefan. I also can either email her or call her directly. Just goes to show that there are many good TAs out there. When the new promotion came out recently she spent hours on hold and once she got through, she made sure all of her already booked clients were getting the best deal. None of her clients had to ask her to do that.

I also use Small World Vacations. I have booked other trips to WDW years ago on my own until I found SWV. At first I was worried I would not care for no control...I do all the research, call or email them and they take care of the rest. I have had to change info., ask questions and anything else you can imagine. They are always right on top of everything. Even taking care of dining and better rates when available. I currently have my April 2013 cruise booked through them.

I use her too and she is AWESOME!! She always lets me know if she will be away from her computer for vacation or things like that, but even when she is away she still answers my emails in a reasonable amount of time.

I use Judi at www.*************************.com. The reason I used them to begin with is that I had already booked my cruise, the price had gone up by $200, but I discovered I could have gotten a large onboard credit by using a travel agency. They allowed me to transfer my already booked reservation and receive their full OBC ($250 for my cruise). I don't know if they still do this, but I haven't heard otherwise. I have also used them for 2 WDW vacations, and plan to continue using them in the future.

I booked thru dcl so I could get the obc for using my Disney visa. Then discovered this weekend that because I paid $350 with point from another card I'm not eligible for the obc. Now I wish I'd used another agency offering other perks. But it's ok. Can't wait for may!

Thank you so much to those who remembered to post the full URL of the travel agency you mention. It is the only way for the board filter to do its job.

For others that have mentioned TA's please use the full URL of the agency or website going forward.

Dreams obviously does not have to be as we know they are the sponsor of this board and allowed to be posted. It would be great if everyone could just get in the habit of posting the full URL.

Thanks all!!!

Oh and about searching on the Dis...yes it can be a pain sometimes but trying just Googling your query. I often find great results when searching for a thread by just putting what I think the title of the thread was and adding - The Dis to the end of the query and I get pretty good results.

If you book through a TA or through Dreams Unlimited can you still get the special discounts such as the Florida resident or military discount or do you have to book directly through Disney?
