Western Caribbean - Best port for shopping/souvenirs? - The DIS Discussion Forums

We are doing the Western Caribbean cruise in June. My daughter wants to make sure that weare able to do a little souvenir shopping at at least one of the ports. We also want to do some excursions so if we were to pick on port to not really schedule much and spend more time shopping and just perusing around - which port would be best? I am thinking maybe Grand Cayman?

Grand Cayman is a shorter port stop usually, and its our favorite! We have always booked an excursion there...the Island Tour with Stingrays. It stops at "Hell, Grand Cayman", then goes to the Turtle Farm (so much fun!), and then out to the Stingray Sandbar to "swim" with the stingrays. It is a full day.
In Cozumel, it is a longer port day, and there is a LOT of shopping right off the boat. We have had not great experiences with excursions in Cozumel, so the next time, we will probably just go and shop.

If you want to buy really high end stuff, Grand Cayman is your spot. Lots of designer stores and gems! Our favorite shopping spot is Cozumel. Lots of stores, easy walking distance from the ship. Reasonable prices especially on silver. Los Cinco Soles is our favorite shop. It is a little more expensive than some of the others, but the sales people are lovely and don't bug you. Great deals on silver, and they have their own brand of vanilla, which is very safe. If you have never used Mexican Vanilla, you MUST get some, it is delicious.
