Okay here are a couple:
If g(x)=4x-3 and find g(x) =-43 and my favorite word problems... Linda Sue is a stunt pilot, but she has found she can't make a living doing stunts. So she has bought a transport plane from her friend Philip. He agrees to help her set up her business. He has two customers he no longer has time to serve and suggests that she work for them, delivering their merchandise. -Charley's Chicken Feed packages its products in containers that weigh 40 pounds and 2 cubic feet in volume. Philip has been charging $2.20 a container. -Careful Calculators packages its materials in cartons that weigh 50 pounds and are 3 cubic feet in vlume. Philip has been charging $3.00 per carton. -The plane can hold a maximum volume of 2000 cubic feet of cargo, it can carry a maximum of 37,000 pounds and it cannot carry more than 400 packages of Careful Calculators. Charley's Chicken Feed and Careful Calculators have both told Linda Sue that she can have as uch business as she can handle, and the same flight route serves both customer's needs. Of course, Linda wants to maximize the money she gets per flight, so she can spend more time on stunt flying. a) use variables to describe the constraints on what Linda Sue can carry. Be sure to clearly define what each variable represents. b) Sketch the feasible reagion for Linda Sue's situation. c) Graph the profit line. d) Find the combination of chicken feed and calculators that Linda Sue should carry in order to maximize her income. Then give the maximum she can make while satisfying her constraints. Just a side note, the first problem we are unsure of the answer. The second we have not tackled yet. |

I'm lost. Hahaha. I cannot solve for x to save my life. Luckily I live with a math genius. So no homework help for me.
but in turn I get the first grader who magically forgets how to do anything!

![]() That is the answer Julia came up with. Thanks for doing this out, it makes me feel so much better. She is going to tackle the word problem tomorrow, we spent today working on graphing inequalites, equations and functions, which Josh will be checking when he gets home. |

Rachal, I am right there with you! I just can't wrap my head around this for anything. Julia is a great teacher though, she explains the what and why after she completes the problem. I really think she gets this but is just freezing up at the thought of the consequences if she doesn't pass.
