Hi, any advice for first timers

Just thought I would say hi.

We are hoping to go to WDW 30/10/13-14/11/13

There will be 4 adults and 2 children aged 3&7.

It will be my first time at WDW and its all quite daunting. Can not make our minds up if we stay ata disney resort or hire a villa.

The following disney resorts so far are being look at: If we all stay together OKW OR SSR, Fort wildness Resort.

If we have seperate rooms POR, POF, CBR.

Any advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance.

I stayed at OKW & POF and loved them both but the price and get high for 2 weeks. So an off site rental villa might save some money, parking is only $15-16 per day. A 2 weeks car rental may be $45 per day for a 6 person car/van if your flying in. But, if you have a good exchange rate you have an advantage over locals

I totally agree with this. Some offsite villas do not charge parking, so that would save you money, also.

I suggest you visit the Orlando Hotels & Attractions Board here on the DIS, ask some questions, and get a feel for which offsite hotels would be the best options for your family.

I've stayed onsite and offsite. Having stayed on the property, it would take a pretty amazing deal to get me to stay offsite. I love the freedom of Disney Transportation!

My suggestion would be to get 2 rooms at the same resort. A little private family time might come in handy when the kids need to sleep. In fact, you could even request (and hopefully get, though it's not guaranteed) connecting rooms. That way the adults could have a place to be while the kids were sleeping.

I've never stayed at any of the resorts you've mentioned, though friends stayed at POR and loved it!

Staying on site to me just completes the whole Disney experience when it comes to WDW. When you stay off site you are at the mercy of whatever hotel you staying at and their traveling schedule to and from the parks. The bus system at WDW may not be the fastest, and it may be crowded at times, but at least your on your schedule and not some hotels.

Welcome! I'm new here too, we just recently went and stayed at AOA, I now don't think I will ever go and not stay on park, but i was such a great experience for us. I loved not having to drive anywhere for a week lol. We looked at rooms with more kitchen accommodations but we did and will do again the dining plan so that wasn't necessary for us personally. I didn't overplan the first trip, just kinda decided where we were going then did the ride we wanted to do most as soon as we got to the park then just enjoyed the rest of the day...I'm a bit lax I think lol.

we've stayed both onsite and offsite.
por was lovely,but okw was wonderful for the space (we had a 2 bed villa).
also,loved olivias restaurant and the gym onsite.

my absolute favourite thing about being onsite is emh,they're great.
enjoy Disney dining and not paying for parking.
it is really something being totally in the Disney bubble.

however,that said,staying in a villa is delightful for personal space,beds,bathrooms,tv's,kitchen,laundry(yes,I like to do laundry on vacation!) and if not far away from wdw,does not take long to travel around.
