You are the best! Love how you never stop thinking up new info to add. And love that you have a stash of pictures that you are trying to find a home for.

You always have the option of purchasing cereal and milk right there in the gift shop/QS shop. Also, pop tarts (and they do have a toaster to use), muffins, prepackaged donuts.....heck there is even bread if he wants toast. While not breakfast food, I believe I saw lunchables in the cold section (check out some of the pics of what the store has to sell). We have even used Garden Grocer and had granola bars, muffins etc delivered to our room to used for breakfast on some mornings.

Depending on the day, we do sometimes head straight to the park and grab a baked good for breakfast when we arrive (never could pass up a cinnamon roll or cherry turnover on Main Street) and now with the Nutella and fruit waffles at Sleepy Hollow...........I'm in heaven!!!

I too don't like to spend much of my morning on a table service breakfast (way to excited to get to the parks.............ahem, I mean my kids are way to excited to get to the parks ), but the Captains Grill is a great alternative on a few of the mornings.

Have a fantastic time planning! And do remember to spend time enjoying the resort.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I might have to bring some extra snacks for DS8. Is the service at Captians Grille very slow, or can we get done in less than an hour?

I have starting reading this thread (up to page 10 so far) and I am very impressed!!! I love how the group has gotten together, and formed relationships with CMs. The pool noodles made me laugh

I look forward to reading more!

My eldest daughter is graduating from high school this year and she has chosen a Disney vacation as her present! We're driving down to save some costs (and aggravation) and originally decided on a split stay with 5 nights at the Dolphin and 5 nights BWI CL. Our last trip we stayed at the BWI and loved it, so that's all fine but....when I added up the price of the room at the dolphin, plus tax, plus resort fee, plus parking it looked like we could stay in a standard view at a deluxe for the same amount assuming AAA discount (for now - hoping for some Disney discount in the future ). We wanted to stay somewhere we've never stayed before and so, voila, we though YC or BC (love the Epcot area). So, here's my question, and I'm sorry I'm so long-winded: which resort has the better standard view? Or the least crappy standard view. The decor of both appeal to us so that doesn't matter too much, but a balcony is always nice as long as it's not on top of a rooftop AC unit or something. Any suggestions, or persuasions, all opinions welcome !!! Thanks.
YC has all full balconies. I'd go with the garden view though at either YC or BC, it's only about $5 more per night.

Question for BC experts-

We're staying for the first time in April (woot!) and we are wondering about the best way to get into Epcot for rope drop. I've read in other places that by the time you walk from the BC all the way around World Showcase in the morning the lines are already long and you lose the whole 'arrive early' advantage. Thoughts? Is it worth a cab for the one day we want to hit the big attractions? We're excited to be able to walk to and from the BC for afternoon breaks, swimming, and World Showcase adventures, but we do want to hit rope drop once.

Thanks for the thoughts

Are you going during April vacation week or a spring break time when it will be super busy?

Even if you are, I still think you are better off just going through the International Gateway and World Showcase. Sometimes the "rope" for the WS entrance will be dropped a few minutes before the main rope to equalize the slight advantage, but even if it is not, I think we are only talking about 5 minutes.

IMHO, not worth the extra expense, or time or hassle of getting to the front of EPCOT, plus dealing wiht a much bigger crowd of people than you will coming from the other direction.

Now other experts out there who have had recent trips- since the only rope drops I have ever done are the EMH, 8 am entry-

Do they stop you at the turnstiles at IG before the park opens, or are you able to go through the WS and make it to the border of WS/Future World. I have heard both.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences, friends.

We were staying at BW last August and we had to wait at the turnstiles, there was no rope drop as such, we were still one of the first on Soarin' though

He will eat chicken nuggets for breakfast before school, which is fine with me because at least he ate before school. We have reservations for breakfast at the Captain's Grille for the days we are not going to a park (so they can get their beloved Mickey waffles), but don't want to spend that kind of time on a park day for breakfast.

What does everyone think about the breakfast options there? Does the QS have really good baked goods in the morning (the ones at the Poly were not very good)? Do they have lunch type foods in the pre-made selections available in the morning? I appreciate everyone's advice.
The Captains' Grille has a buffet option and an al a carte menu, so you can get through a meal there very quickly if you do the buffet. We have gotten breakfast sandwiches at the Marketplace before, or a milk and little boxes of cereal or pastries. Sometimes we just wait and grab a QS breakfast at whichever park we are going to.

We would love to see these photos, great idea Natebenma and I just wanted to say what a great job you are doing keeping everyone updated and for such an amazing thread packed full of wonderful information and photos of the Yacht and Beach Club resort. We are anticipating a lovely stay there now we are all caught up. I guess there's still not much news on Hurricane Hanna's re-opening date and menus, I'm sure they will sort it out eventually.

We always do rope drop from IG and have never had a problem. Last week were running a little late and hit the turnstiles there around 9:00 and the gates had already opened. I went directly to Test Track for FP's and the rest of my crew went to Soarin. They walked directly on Soarin and we walked back over to TT and had a maybe 5-10 minute wait.

When we were there this past August we were in line for RD. They let us in a few minutes before 9:00 and we went directly to Soarin. TT was closed at this time so ALL early morning gate crashers were heading toward Soarin. We grabbed FP's and still were one of the first groups on Soarin.

So no, in my opinion there is no disadvantage to IG.

Here's a pic of IG right before opening on that first week of August. A 10 on crowd calendars.....

Good morning all,

Yesterday we arrived at WDW for our first stay at the YC CL. Here are a few random thoughts:

1) Don't travel on a plane with a team of college-aged cheerleaders! Apparently there is a big cheering competition at the Wide World of Sports. Well, to our initial amusement, a rather high percentage of college cheerleaders have never flown before and, to our chagrin, become irrationally terrified when either taking off or landing.

2) Love using the ME, but, when 7 teams of cheerleaders arrive at MCO at or neat the same time, it gets crowded & loud down in the waiting area.

3) The YC is definitely quieter than the BC, and it is beautiful. Sorry BC fans - we've gone completely over to the dark side, as we've found our new home.

4) The CL has the best lobster salad! Living in MA, we're seemingly spoiled, in that you can find it pretty much anywhere. However, the chefs that cater to the the Regatta Club are truly masters of their craft.

5) It is so much quicker to walk to DHS than to take the launches. We starting walking just a one of the Friendship boats arrived a the Studio dock. We on the bridge at the Boardwalk & Swan before it we could see it going under the bridge for the road (Buena Vista Drive - I think). I guess we're going to get tons of exercise this trip!

&, the final one for today:

6) This morning for DS's & my morning jog it was FREEZING. 41 degrees!! What's up with that FL? It was warmer in MA on Tuesday! Come on Mickey, please turn up the heat a little.

Opps. Just thought of one more! Loved the new Test Track. The ride overall felt faster. However, I would not ever do stand-by again unless it was walkon. It took much longer than the supposed 30 minute wait, and, while the design your own car was cute, it definitely was not worth the wait.

Off the to AK, back from supper at Cape May's, & then to Epcot again for late EMHs!

Thanks so much for the live update.

1) and 2) Sorry to hear about the cheerleader chaos! I have to say your story makes me very proud of the 145 middle schoolers I traveled with in June. They were very well behaved in the airport, on the planes and in the airport. We got several compliments from airline and resort staff througout our trip

At least they aren't staying at the resort with you! Pity the folks at the All Stars.

3) So glad to hear you love the Yacht Club!

4) ITA agree about the lobster salad. We had that one night in the lounge, and as a life-long New Englander, I totally give it my seal of approval.

5) We have raced (and beat) the HS boats twice in July, and it was brutal in the heat, but I would be all over that in January!

6) Hope you have some warmer weather. Gonna be cold in MA today, so you should beat our temps.

Have a great day and trip!!!
