Does anyone know what kinds of things are in the water, like sharks or other big scary things Ok, I'm putting my brave face back on now.
That's the same excursion I'm considering.

My first time snorkeling was on cruise last month.

Grand Cayman - Singray City, Starfish, coral reef
Costa Maya - Small boat set up at Tropicante
Cozumel -

Each time, I was probably the last one to get off the boat. Each time in the water, I had long moments of panic before I could put my face in the water. Then, I was fine. Just floated around watched all the cool stuff below me. Very do-able. No big, scary things. Well, the stingrays. The were big and heavy, but not scary! With help from the boat crew, I held, fed, and kissed the stingray!

I did not wear a life jacket in Grand Cayman, I felt "safe", but got a bad sunburn. The next trips, life jackets were offered and encouraged. I wore them and I think they gave me a little more confidence.

Have fun!
