DREAMing of Crab Legs
I'm curious if there's a place to get crab legs on the Dream? Specifically I'll be on the 4 night in June.

I don't think they have hot ones. I'm not into any kind of cold seafood so a bit bummed about that.

I think they had them (cold) with shrimp everyday on our 4 day Dream in December.

Yes, they were served almost every day in Cabanas. BUT, they were served cold and there was no melted butter to go with them. I love crab legs but was a bit bummed about this and barely ate any.

Both hot and cold have their place at the table in my experience. When I went to the beach as a kid, you ate it hot in the evening after cooking the day's catch. It was eaten cold the next day for lunch if you hadn't waded out to catch more yet. But if someone puts it on my plate, it gets eaten. Hot, cold, or anywhere in between.

one thing some folks forget
you're sailing in the Bahamas and possibly the Caribbean right? Those big crab legs you want come from the northern reaches of the Pacific ocean. Ever see that TV show about the guys that catch 'em? Local (FL or Bahama) crab? Stone Crab (claws) in season . . . hey if you just want 'em cuz they are "free" ... go for it. But don't be thinking they are fresh - you can buy the same stuff frozen at COSTCO and fix 'em yourself at home. It's funny to me to be in a Florida seafood rest' and see folks get all excited about finally being able to get good king crab . . . http://www.fishex.com/ : In most cases, the king crab you purchase has already been cooked by the processor. The majority of Alaska's crab is cooked and blast frozen to secure it's prized taste. Preparing king crab is usually just a matter of using your preferred reheating method. ... Keep in mind that unless you have purchased a live king crab, the crab legs in front of you have already been cooked. I worked the fisheries country of AK for a while . . . you learn A LOT about the fish you eat when you do that . . .

4 minutes later a dish showed up at our table. 1 minute later another dish of melted butter showed up. Gotta love DCL. Just ask ... Ya never know... If it shows eat more. I learned to ask only one CM. |

Nothing, NOTHING beats the pre-sliced king crab legs at Palo brunch. Frozen or not, I'm drooling thinking about 'em.
Just sayin'. |
