Forget about on the mat....we can't even go in the gym except the last practice of the month in the fall and that's only for the last 15 minutes of class for the kids to show what they've been working on. I was hoping it would be different from Dance Moms, but it's basically the same thing. :-(

What a disservice this show has done for the cheer industry!
DITTO!!!! You took the words right out of my mouth.

Let's talk....choreography! My DD's team will be doing choreography clinic this week and she's over the moon to get started! Our gym is having separate choreographers coming in for every two teams - last week the owner of Austin Cheer was there for one of the Senior 4 teams. So we can't to see who my DD gets - she's just in Senior 2 but looking forward to a great year with her "older" cheer teammates - she's 12.

Also, is anyone getting new uniforms this year? We are and I can't wait to see them. The Senior teams are getting midriffs and the younger teams are getting full tops. We get uniforms ever 3 years.

Have any of your kids ever attended Camp Woodward? I just dropped my dd there yesterday (on her 10th bday ) and I have to say I was super nervous, but very impressed with the facilities etc.

My dd called me this afternoon to tell me she got her running full!! She is having a blast & loves everything about the camp. She had her tumbling class this morning and is going to both open gym in the afternoon & evening. She said the coaches are AMAZING and even the food is good. She texted me a video of her full from her cell phone & she looked so happy...I am one happy & relieved cheer mama!

My daughters were asked to cross up to Junior 4 this week. They are super excited. They worked really hard all summer and practiced with them many times. Of course, that now means we're at the gym 4 days a week. Oh well, more time for me to go to the gym I guess.

How's everyone's season shaping up so far? My girls had their first competition this weekend. All the teams from their gym looked good and not one group on any team fell and there was no busted tumbling, so I was very happy about that. Both of my girls teams looked good; much better, in fact, then I thought they would. There were some bobbles, including my own daughters, but everyone stuck their stunts. Unfortunately, both teams had illegal stuff in their routines. For their Y2 team, that took them from 2nd to 4th and on the J4 team it took them from 1st to 5th. My two took the whole thing in stride, but I was pretty disappointed. When I judge, (I judge at the Pop Warner and high school level) it always makes me annoyed when I watch a routine and there are either elements that are missing (so I as the judge have to give a "0") or when there are things in the routine that can't be there. That's on the coaches. I know it was just a mistake, but it just stinks when the kids hit the routine and they're expecting to place a lot higher than they do. Ok, small vent over. Hope everyone has a last good week of practices before Christmas.

I found this thread again! How many competitions do you go to per season? Our season for competing lasts 9 weeks and we are going to 9 competitions. Other years it's been 6-8. Do you think this is a lot?

Our whole gym is doing NCA in Dallas and then some others for the upper level teams.

Our 4's (Jr and Sr) and Restricted 5 got their bids for the Summit in Vegas. Our Smoed and IOC5 just got their World bids, so they will all be going to Orlando.

Has anybody ever done Encore Championships in San Diego? DD's Special Needs team is headed there in April. It is a new competition for us.
