Resort help

Looking for a place to stay on grounds that is smaller and kid friendly. Preferably close to MK. We have 4 adults and 3 kids going and have not decided if we will do a Villa or two adjoining rooms. Any advice is welcome!

POFQ came to mind first. That is a small resort. Depending on your budget, you could do a villa at BLT, two rooms at any of the monorail resorts or a villa or two rooms at Wilderness Lodge. How old are the kids? Are the other adults grandparents?

You can't go wrong with a 2-bedroom villa at one of the resorts on Bay Lake. BLT is pretty small and so is WL. The pool at WL looked better than BLT, and the dining options are much better because there isn't anything at BLT - you have to walk over to Contemporary. WL is not on the monorail though - you'll have to take a ferry to get to it.

Yes they are grandparents but active. The kids will be 4, 6, and 9. After walking all day at the parks I think we all will prefer a smaller resort. It's so hard to decide where to stay!

My vote would be WL. Second would be Poly because of the daybed your family could stay in one room(you, DH & 3 kids) Grandparents could have own room.

First I would choose time of year & budget. Also will you have a car?

We particularly enjoy WL, and just did a trip in September in two rooms with grandparents, the two of us, and our almost 3 year old daughter. We looked at both the Villas and the regular hotel rooms and ended up going with two standard view rooms, and were fortunate enough to get connecting rooms which worked out perfectly.

WL is the least expensive of the MK area resorts, but has slightly smaller rooms than the others and no direct monorail access. Instead there is boat service to MK and to the Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness. There is also bus service to all parks, which Monorail resorts do not have. We really like that it is relatively small (compared to other WDW resorts) and is all under one roof (which is great for the rain). The theme is like a Pacific Northwest lodge, which we enjoy but if you prefer something else each resort definitely has a unique feel.

While each Disney resort has it's own unique advantages, overall you can't go too wrong by staying onsite. All resorts have transportation to all the parks, and you can visit whatever other resorts you want. Upgrading to a Moderate gets you bigger beds and more theming, while upgrading to a Deluxe gets you interior hallways, rooms with balconies, and generally better locations (like right by MK).

Enjoy your trip, and the planning! It is definitely part of the fun.

Another vote for the Poly if it is in your budget. On the monorail, very kid friendly, beautiful grounds and the beach for kids to play. When we stayed there last year my DD5 loved the twin sized sofa bed/day bed. DW and I shared a Queen, DS7 had a Queen to himself, and DD5 slept on the twin. I would suggest adjoining rooms at the Poly so the grandparents can have their own space.

For me I would recommend WL over Poly b/c I like how the corridors are air conditioned whereas the Poly is different buildings and if it is very hot or rainy that is extra time walking in it.

The WL is very cozy and didn't feel large at all. They also have villas there so a 2 BR could be an option with a full kitchen.
