Beach Club and Boardwalk Inn..best way to Magic Kingdom?

We are currently thinking of changing our reservations and staying at the Boardwalk Inn or Yacht and Beach Club. I see that they are both a 10 min walk to Epcot and 15 min walk to Hollywood Studios. What would be the best way to get from one of these resorts to Magic Kingdom? Bus? Walk to Epcot and take the monorail? Would that option take forever? Just wondering how convenient the walking will be....10 to 15 min walks don't seem that bad at all....we have 3 boys, ages 4, 7 and 9 in May when we are going....thoughts and insight much appreciated!

I've stayed at the Epcot resorts many times and I think it's more convenient to take the bus than to walk all the way through Epcot. I'm a pretty quick walker and it's more than 10-15 minutes; you will have just about that much time used going through bag check and getting into the International Gateway.

I would suggest taking the resort WDW bus to MK. You enter Epcot by the back entrance in the World Showcase from these two resorts. You would have to walk all the way to the front of Epcot and exit the park to the monorail to take it to the TTC and then switch to the MK monorail. While you can walk to HS, you can also take the boat.

i rather drive or monorail. I know it seems long but the buses are shared and can take longer depending.

FWIW, we just got back from a ten night stay at the Beach Club and the bus service to MK was excellent. Went back and forth many times and the longest wait was maybe 15 minutes, and that was only once.

Also if you go through Epcot you'll need hoppers. The walkway to Epcot from BWI and BC takes you to the side entrance of Epcot, not the front. So you'll have to walk to Epcot, get in, walk to the front of the park and then get on the monorail. Not so efficient.

Just stayed at BC and MK buses were great and only shared with YC. It was fast and the best option with plenty of buses.

One reason that the bus to MK can be better than driving is that the bus will drop you off right at the main gate, but if you drive you need to park at the TTC and then either take the ferry or the monorail to the main gate.

I timed the trip once and it was 12 minutes from the BC to MK (without including wait time for bus)

Bus or rental car is best. Monorail option is good when you are park hopping from Epcot. Rental car is the most reliable, but you loose time, since you have to catch transportation in the parking lot to get to the MK gate. Buses can make a lot of stops around the Epcot resort areas depending on the time of day. MK Magic Hour bus times can be very unmagical with the me-me type individuals. Also, as the bus makes its stops the bus may get crowded and unless they have a bus waiting cue line you may experience the typical crowd rush where everyone dashes to the bus door as it arrives no matter if you were waiting 20 minutes or 20 seconds for the bus. Often forgetting people have to get off the bus first.

It's not going to be a 10 or 15 minute walk through Epcot, especially with small children. It will take you 10 minutes just to get from Boardwalk to the International Gateway. Then another 15 or 20 minutes to the front of Epcot. Then it could be another 30 minutes on the monorail, you have to change trains at the TTC. Plus the monorail breaks down frequently. I would take the bus.

I also feel the bus is quicker. If you are already in Epcot, and want to hop over to MK, then by all means take the monorail. But from the resort, the bus is way faster.

As others have said, the "best" way is to take the bus from the resort to the MK directly.

If you opt for a taxi, ask to be taken to the Contemporary. Otherwise, the taxi will take you to the TTC and then you'll take the monorail or ferry to MK.

I'm in the minority, but if time is not critical and you have park hoppers, I like going through Epcot to get to MK. I like seeing Epcot (and maybe saying "hi" to a ride or two) and then getting to ride the monorail (two times if you count the one from Epcot to TTC and then from the TTC to MK). It's not the fastest or least effort route, but I still like it.

BUT, if you have hoppers, we sometimes take the monorail FROM MK to TTC, change to the Epcot monorail, go into Epcot and walk back to the International Gateway. Sometimes we just enjoy the monorail ride. Plus we can browse our way through Mouse Gears in Epcot, or stop for a snack or drink in WS. This will definitely take longer, but it can be a relaxing break on the monorail and a fun way to view some different scenery. Of course it all depends on crowd levels, time of day, and what kind of a hurry you are in.

When my nephews were small they thought the monorail was a ride!

That's what we almost always do! Take the bus to MK first thing in the morning, then after lunch we head onto the monorail, enjoy a couple of attractions in EPCOT before heading back to the Beach Club.

If you are already in EP and want to go to MK, then the monorail is the way. But like others have said, I wouldn't suggest walking through EP to the monorail to get to MK if you are trying to save time.
