housekeeping / turn down service

For those that have used the turndown service - does the same housekeeper that cleans your room during the day come back in the evening for the turndown service? Or is it a totally different person?

It just depends on what shifts the person is working.

For us, on several occasions, it was a different person.

I know that housekeeping isn't a tipped position but I tip - so if you tipped how did you leave a tip for the turndown maid if you weren't coming back to the room during the day?

Just put out both envelopes - one with housekeeper and one with turndown service and hope they were honest?

Hmmmm...good question. When we stay CL we stick around the resort, so we usually encounter our mousekeepers.

Personally, I would not leave both envelopes in the room. But that's just me. Perhaps you could explain the situation to the conceirge staff and have them set it out for you once the room has been cleaned?

In our CL experiences, we leave a cash tip on the bed when we leave in the morning, but we always return before turn-down, so I then leave another tip on the bed before any turn-down service. In our experience, I believe it's always been a different housekeeper in the evening. We have had instances where the turn-down housekeeper has refused the tip and left it on the bed and nights where we're in the room so we decline the service.
