Yes, thankfully he was smart enough to find out what would be required of him to succeed in his chosen field.

I work in a huge district. 3rd in the nation I believe. Wish I was in a smaller one.
That's still completely irrelevant. She was commenting on her daughter's district in relation to her daughter's job, and for them, it is a huge district. It's not up to you to declare otherwise. The size of your district or anything to do with your school system matters not one bit.

Your answer really served no purpose except to try to engage in some sort of weird oneupmanship.

OP, congrats to your daughter.

Awwww Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is she in my neck of the woods? PM me with her district if you want (don't worry, I completely understand if you prefer not to) But CONGRATULATIONS to her and to your family! Boy do I get how hard it is to "stick it out" and wait...my DD did the same thing..passed on job a week out of school with a major film studio..greta $, but she just did not feel the position itself was going to be the wisest career choice, kinda pigeon holed. She passed on it and boy did she get grief from just about everyone. Well, she was offered several positions out in San Francisco shortly therafter..and loves her company, position, projects, etc. You raised your DD well with confidence and a cool head..way to go to you all! Great start to the new year!

Congrats to your DD on her job. That is fantastic!

And yes, that is a HUGE district, coming from a girl that grew up with one high school, one jr high and one elementary ~ in one building and three towns combined.

Special Education is about the only department in most school systems that has a growth each year. Most schools in our area are only hiring special education, be it teachers or aides. (BTW, a person is an aide, an object is an aid. As a special education aide, I'm a bit touchy about being called an object, since we are often treated as such)

Congratulations to the OP's daughter. I've found special education to be a very rewarding, frustrating, exhausting, thrilling, exasperating, heart-warming career.

Sorry for the misspelling. My youngest DD has had a 1:1 aide for over 10 years now. I've spelled it a million times but mess up here on the Dis

In our area, a lot of the districts are using the term parapro instead.

DD is patiently waiting for a call today to find out more details.

Don't tell me he did it without reading the DIS.

I kind of think our college kids can figure out what courses and programs they need for their professional certification without resorting to asking on the DIS. My daughter (gasp) asked her college adviser.

During my short time here, it seems like some people ask DIS first instead of where they should be asking. Not sure if they want to increase their post count or they don't know there is more to the Internet outside of DIS. You can actually get information from the correct places instead of here. Lol

I think it's more the moms who've been asking the DIS....
