I was just thinking about Sarah...
I think the last thing she said to me via post is that she will not update my resort on the 1st page until I had been committed for a week...I've been at YC since 1/1/13....but she didn't get to update me.... ![]() She put this next to my dates... ![]() But, in a way, that is kind of funny. ![]() Thanks, Sarah

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies!
![]() I'm open for any/all to ponder (though I think Vegas is a no-go since we've done that already). Although we HAVE done Seattle before, too. Caribbean or Mexico, hmm. Someplace warm would be nice. Wish I could change his birthday to over the summer, so we wouldn't have to worry about taking Miss M outta school. We'd love to take her on a road trip like we did pre-kiddo: out west via the Grand Canyon and Utah, then onto California to the Monterrey area. I'd love to take her out to see the otters in the sea. Wait... it was supposed to be about the hubs, right?! I am so all-over-the-place about this trip! ![]() Jen: Nope -- not on Halloween! (I wish it was... that would explain a lot of things. Like how he fell for me in the first place.) How FUN that her birthday is on Halloween?! Does she enjoy getting to dress up on her birthday? Tell her I'm envious!

Ladies!
It was a thread on the Discount boards about someone complaining about not being able to take his DW and DD to Disney much because they are out pricing everyone. I merely interjected it can be done affordably....but I was waiting to get lambasted. I am a bit paranoid about that now! I underestimated the protectiveness of you lovely ladies!Ironically enough, I was looking at a place called Paradise Palms (?) offsite, it looks nice too! Just looking...![]() OK....someone talk me some sense here. I think we really need a dog. I cannot get it out of my head, and some of you may have seen a thread I started on the community boards where I asked about Beagles. I have been in touch with a man who wants to give one away, a female 11 months old. She is trained, fixed, and he has decided being a single guy that he really has no time for her. So I jumped on the ad and got in touch with him right away. But in the small amount of time I then talked to DH and got back to him, he is now letting someone else her first. ![]() So, I am waiting to see if he does or doesn't like these people. If he doesn't he said he will get back in touch with me. But even if he doesn't I still feel like the DD's need a dog. We have two cats but DH and I always grew up with dogs too. And birds in my case. But I am not allowed birds right now ![]() Anyhoo, should we get a dog? I figure if I have this much time to waste on the Dis everyday, I could carve out time to take a little pooch for a walk!! ![]() Opinions??? ![]() Jen |

![]() But, a dog needs to be walked, and boarded when you go on vacation...for our cat, my DFIL will just come over and feed him and change his litter box...easy peasy. I just have no interest in taking care of a dog...but I'm not an animal person...I am truly shocked at how much I love our cat though...

Melissa: Our baking queen!
Ya know ... you mentioning CR got me thinking...Stay at CR and go to the Halloween party for the hubs' birthday -- is that lame, folks? Wookie: Shame that fest isn't in Oct -- or during summer -- sounds like a lot of fun! over the doggy pics! You need a hand dog-sitting? Ooooh, that's Clancy the new boy? I'm smitten. We had a neighbor with a wolfhound when I was little; Stanley used to wait by the fence when I'd walk home from school for his daily ear-scratches. Lurved him muchly. Also huge Jen: Our backyard neighbor, one house over, they've got a beagle. Oh boy... with that barking/baying thing he does. I'm thinking either the lot of them can't hear or are just totally clueless how loud he gets. Anywho, that's my only experience with beagles -- him and the others in the neighborhood that we pass by on walks -- all loud as can be. We're a dog folks too. We got our mutt from a foster family (who works with a rescue which transports dogs from a high-kill shelter in Indiana). She's dumber than a box of rocks but a total SWEETHEART with Miss M (Miss M is her "baby"). I used to volunteer at a local shelter here so I kinda knew what we were after when we started looking: didn't want a puppy, wanted a medium-sized to large fully grown Heinz 57 mutt, submissive. We lucked out with all the fringe benefits: she came totally house and crate trained and despite being 1-2-ish years old, she's a couch potato when she wants to be and a lunatic squirrel chaser the rest of the time. (I won't mention she hates the UPS man, ab.so.lutely. hates. with. a. passion. Not so much the mailman or the Fedex man, but ooooooh boy, when she hears that UPS truck. Totally bats***. ) Can't wait to hear what you decide... ![]() Lacey: Hiya! Two trips... yeeeeeah! You and me both... well, maybe me.

Thanks ladies for your advice.
WookieI love the doggie pics, they are all so precious! And rescue dogs too. That is also what I have been looking into. Candace: I hear you, it would be a lot of extra work. DH keeps reminding me of that too. He thinks I have lost my marbles to even consider it. ![]() Basketlacey: Thanks for the input about the kids helping out. While I think they would be helpful at taking it for short jaunts to the park, they probably won't be too much more help then that! Certainly won't be picking up dog doo doo anytime soon. DD8 is sick again! It is like the stupid flu came back again. Gotta go tend to her, she's wimpering in her sleep. |

Jen I love dogs, but I have to warn you we had a beagle when I was a child, and we had to have it debarked. As you know we rescued a dog a month ago. We haven't had a dog in two years. I love the dog, but it wasn't something I planned. We have no family around to take care of him when we take trips. Even if we did it's a lot to ask of family or friends to watch a dog for a week or two. The dog we have is small enough to fly as a carry on. It's great, but hotels do make you pay a fee. Boarding a dog is expensive. It will cost me 600.00 to board our dog at WDW for 11 nights. I will say we have gotten a lot of joy out of having a dog again. He goes everywhere with us. He sleeps in the kids bed. He jumps up and down and licks me all over when I get home from work. I think he is worth the added travel expenses.
I would think long and hard about the Beagle. They love to howl at the moon all night long.

Ok, I had to come back..
Padawans: Just !!! I knew you all could provide me with some solid things to think about!I also wanted to share this....read it on the Allears newsletter. It must be in response to the Newtown tragedy.... "The Jedi Training Academy shows at both Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland have been modified to limit even the pretend threat of violence directed at children. Interactions between Stormtroopers carrying blasters and children participating in the show are limited, and Stormtroopers do not point their weapons at the children. Instead, they deliver the line, "Halt! Put down your weapon," with a raised blaster and outstretched hand. At Disneyland, the Stormtroopers enter with Darth Vader, instead of running through the audience. These changes will remain in effect indefinitely." Probably a good thing to change this.
