Extra roomkey
I know that when you loose your roomkey you can get a new one at GS.
I have read somewhere here on the boards that you can get a spare roomkey. Next sailing we have 2 staterooms and i would like to have 2 spare keys (one for each room). How does this work?? Is it a roomkey like any other roomkey with photo and name on there? TIA

No, it is not a duplicate KTTW card. It is a card that functions only as a room key--no charging, no ID attached.
All you have to do is to go to GS with an adult who is actually booked in the room (they won't issue you a key without the permission of the occupant, obviously). I had NO problem getting one for each room when I was responsible for a high school graduation trip. DCL made it easy. Since my "real" key was the blue Goofy, they made the extras in the white "Donald" design (easier to know which was which). Obviously there is no room number on it...just take a sharpie and label the dummy key "1", "2" or whatever as needed. DO NOT list the real room number on any key. They do this all the time when mom is in one cabin and kids are in another. We even call them "mom keys." You are correct that they can replace a lost KTtw card and invalidate the original. Also, if you lock your key in your room at a time when your stateroom host is not around, they can issue a one time use only key that will allow you to unlock the door. Neat feature that it just works once! |

The only thing to keep in mind is that policies do change...and while DCL is trying to make things uniform across the line, there are some things that vary from one ship to another. All any of us can do is to report our own experiences.

Is there any way to allow room charging on that extra room key? The reason I ask is we're trying to add my husband to our reservation but DCL has capped room occupancies. So we can book another room, hopefully with someone else. He would be in that room only on paper so he would need our room key and charging to our room.

This is very helpful. Our teens will be in one room and dh and I in another but we had to book it with one of us in each room, of course. We sailed Princess and they would not give any extra keys out so dh and ds just switched and switched back when we went off and on the ship. I was wondering how this could work if the teens have different key cards for the Vibe.
This is actually better in that we will now have a key to their room......

I don't know if there is a policy on how many extra keys they will give out, but I never had a problem getting a key to the teen room for me to keep! I don't know if both mom and dad can get one....
