Just booked 10 Nights in this Resort for October 20-30th.
We are off-site people for many many years, always renting a House or large Condo what saves us much money. But we couldn't resist the offer on the UKs Disney Website with 10 days, regular Dining plan, 100$ Gift Card and Ultimate Ticket for just 2600 Euro.
So really looking fwd. to this experience. I guess it will be much different then the last visits when we stay off-site, as we should plan to stay some more at the pool also (even so we're strong Park goers) and having only eat at Disney is something very new for us (we normally only do Boma and O'hana or Chef Mickeys one time and thats it for Disney Dining). Much planning will come soon to us I guess...

Continuing bookings are something that the room assignment team looks for on a regular basis. They see a lot of these, especially around the start of the free dining periods where people need to split their booking to take advantage of the opening date of the offer. They make every effort to avoid anyone needing to change rooms, although it's not 100% guaranteed of course. The fact that you have two rooms booked will help as they won't want to move two of you if at all possible.

Make sure you note on your requests for the first booking to have it linked with the next one (and also fax the resort 3-5 days before arrival). You will need to pop back to the front desk to checkout/checkin again on your changeover day, but it shouldn't be a problem.

You will have no difficulty with parking, I've seen all sorts parked there! You may prefer to park a little further away from the building, on the other side of the parking lot, if you feel your RV is too large for the nearby spaces, but see how you go.

Just out of curiosity, how often do you make it to POR?
Thanks again for the compliments.

We go about once a year, but usually for a two-week stay. Some years we'll maybe do two shorter stays, but with the length and price of flights from the UK it's hard to get over any more often than that.

The CM was a little confused. Yes, there are many rooms in the Preferred Locations which happen to look out over gardens/bayou. However to get one of those, you need to have booked it as a Preferred Room rather than a general Garden View one. See the floor plans on my site for details of which which rooms fall into which booking category, e.g. for building 14 you will see no 'Garden View' category (i.e. green) rooms at all:

So yes, if you've booked a Garden View then put in a request for 16 or 17, which to be honest are just as close as some of the officially Preferred rooms.

Is it true that there are no elevators in the AB section and will they automatically put you on the first floor. And will you need to call ahead of time to let them know
Yes, there are no elevators in Alligator Bayou so it is important she asks for a ground floor room and explains the reason. Does she need any other accessibility options, such as extra handrails next to the tub or even a wheelchair accessible room? If so, speak to the people on the Special Assistance team on 1-407-939-7807 to get something appropriate set up.

Where would you recommend to ask for location-wise? Also, do you think we should do Riverview instead - it is only 75 more. There is 2 adults (my sister and I) and 3 kids ages 6, 6 and 3. We are only planning for 1 stroller for the 3 year old.
Just ask for a location close to transportation and a pool - however the main pool is pretty-much in the middle of the resort, while the bus stops are all around the outside, so it might be a bit of a compromise. You could get close to transportation and to a quiet pool though, see the map in the first post to get an idea of the layout and give you some thoughts on what choices you'd like to aim for.

For a few months the window stayed at 90 days, and then in October 2009 it went back to 180 days overnight (causing mayhem, and the system to go down, in the process - people were trying to make 90 daus worth of new bookings all at once!)

Mary I wake up every morning thinking about WDW! And my trip is just over 4 months away! My DH is already tired of hearing about it so I have to tone down my excitement around him, but I just can't help myself sometimes.

Have stayed at POR twice, going again in September. I don't remember what gluten-free options are available at the food court. Both myself and my DD are gluten sensitive. I know there is a pasta station in the food court at dinner time, is there a gluten free pasta available? What about at breakfast, can you get gluten free pancakes? I remember eating a gluten free brownie there last time, made by Meadow something-or-other I think. Are those still available? Is there anything from the bakery section that is gluten free?

I've had to stop talking about it on facebook. I could tell most of my friends were tiring of my Mickey talk.

Ah yes, I know we had the 90 day booking window for May 2009. We booked a bounceback for December and thank goodness our 90 day window opened for that before the sudden change back to 180 days that caused such a panic!

I know what you mean. I tell my DH that I get a year's worth of entertainment out of our vacation and he only gets 2 weeks. In my opinion, I get the better deal!

Talk about confusing! In October 2005, it went from 90 days to 180 days. Then in December 2008 it went back to 90 days. Then in October 2009 it went back to 180 days! Since the PassPorter guidebook comes out early in the year it's for (in other words, the 2013 book will be coming out soon), the change in December 2008 was too late to be reflected in the 2009 book.

Well, that explains why I was confused. We, honestly, don't do a lot of dining reservations so I was pretty out of the loop. Most of the things we book, like the dessert party, have shorter windows. Thanks for the info!!

Same here!!!! I'm glad I'm not alone! Yesterday he said, "Are you looking at that Port Orleans site again? (portorleans.org.) We're not going for 4 months!" However, when we go he always says our trips are so great because of my obsessive planning!

I like what Mom2six said!! We do get the better deal!

Thanks so much for getting back to me. My mother only needs help with long distance walking. Everything else is fine. It's still a toss up between POR or POFQ and I think the POFQ may be the best fit

I don't even say anything on FB about our trip. That's why I joined two FB Disney groups! I share there because I know they will "get it!"

My husband said basically the same thing. I get to enjoy a year of planning and research, and the rest of the family get to enjoy the vacation!

Only 134 days until we are checking in to POR!

We've been here for three days, and I really, really love this resort. I think POR has converted me over from Pop. My checkbook does not like this.

I'm at POR right now. Not staying here, just visiting! My mother loves it here and how peaceful it is! We're staying here for two nights in march! Super excited!
