Why is there an hourly charge for the nursery but not for the other kids clubs?

I would think all the kids clubs would be free. Why do they charge for the little ones??

limited real estate, more labor intensive, higher staff to kid ratios.

charging discourages overuse of a limited resource.

Kids under 3 pay 1/2 of the 3-12 year old fare. So the charge for the nursery makes up for some of that.

And, the nursery operates totally differently than the Oceaneer's Club or Lab--there is limited space, parents are initially limited in how many hours they can book, care of the kids is more intensive, etc.

The "value" age to cruise is about 2 years and 11 months if kid is fully trained. They will still pay the 1/2 fare but be allowed to participate fully in the OC.

NOTE--the cruise fare portion of the ticket is only a part of the cost. Everyone pays the same port taxes and government fees.

Cruise cost = cruise fare + port taxes and government fees.

Because it takes more people to watch a younger child and they aren't paying a full fare for the cruise.

This was the only way we could afford to take DD for her birthday. She boarded the Wonder a two-year-old and disembarked a three-year-old. We are hoping to do something similar for DS, but he was born in August so our choices will be limited even with under-three fare.

You can always hope for a KSF deal....that's even better than a 2 year old fare!
