Who Says Turning 40 has to be a bad thing?? Celebrating WDW Style!!!! - The DIS Discussion Forums

[COLOR="Orange"]That's right, I'm turning 40, and am hopefully getting the WDW trip of my life!!!

We are a military family, Coast Guard to be exact, we went from living in Florida about 45 minutes east of the parks, to a big move over this past summer to San Diego California. Needless to say, I miss WDW!!!

So for this trip, like I said, trip of a lifetime. To get this trip in order, I need to get my Social Security Disability, which I should, as I have Muscular Dystrophy. Not a life threatening type, but just enough of a pain in the butt to alter my life. I am in a wheelchair part time, in theme parks, all the time. My favorite character is Tigger, so my hubby has painted my powerchair orange with black stripes. I call it my Tiggermobile. Here's the picture

So, with that, here's me!

That was my birthday LAST year. I LOVE all things Disney, and can't wait for this trip. It is exactly a year out as of today, and I've been planning since about 600 days out, when we found out we were moving, I knew that's when we'd get to come back. The cast I'll have to introduce by family, because there's SOOOOO many people, I didn't realize I was so loved!!

Anyways, my little family includes me, my hubby, who is in the Coast Guard, and has been for 17 years, and our 14 yr old son Tyler.

Our dates are January 12th to the 17th of 2014, and I'm torn on where we wanna stay, I really want to stay at BCV, but want us all to mostly stay together, and there are some issues with BCV, my next choice is BLT. We're hoping for a military discount of 40% off the room, and we can get up to 3 rooms with that discount, so we're thinking on 3 two bedroom units wherever we decide to lay our heads. Yea, it's expensive, but you only turn 40 once!! So, stay tuned, there's LOTS of cast to introduce, some newbies, some oldies, some I'm paying for, some, I can't. Hopefully I'll give you guys some good plans!! I've NEVER planned a trip of this magnitude, so it's a first for me as well!! Hope you all enjoy!!

Yea, that was while you guys were with us in the Lion King show!!! Fun day that was!! Tyler's now about an inch shorter than Chris is....and his feet are bigger!! UG! Teenagers, do they ever stop eating or growing???

So, this first family should be similar to most, they're one that we took to Disney just 2 years ago, and stayed in the THV. It was their first trip ever, and we had a blast!!

Amanda, is a new pin trading fan, and had a good time going on her first ever upside-down roller coaster at DHS That trip. Don't think she will return on that ride....even tho one ride I'm sure she WON'T go back on, is Mission Space. She went on the Orange side, yea. Hurled.

At least she waited until she was OUT of the building first!!

That was her and our great niece Sara in line for TSMM at their last trip. They LOVED that ride!! LOL Her husband Jon, not a big fan, but stuck it out with us anyways.

And yes, we put him close to the water on purpose!!

They have 2 kids, one you just seen, I believe she will be 3 at the time of travel, maybe close to 4....YEESH, I'm getting old!!! Andrew will be 7 at time of travel. He was my wheelchair lap buddy. When they had their trip, I was only in a manual chair part time. When we moved, we visited them, and went to the Nashville zoo, they were sooooo interested in the Tiggermobile, was kinda cute....until Andrew got on my lap. he wanted me to GO FAST, but I couldn't!! The road was rough, and there were people around LOL Here's that pic...see his hand on the stick? And mine right on top of his!!

So, this will be the Vasil family's second WDW trip, they would like to venture on their own for a couple days, which is fine with me. Amanda wants to spend more time in MK, since Sara will be a bit older than 18 months this time. Hopefully Jon makes it too.

Amanda is a teacher at a preschool church in TN, and Jon works for Wal-Mart, he travels and supervises the remodel of many of the stores in the midwest. Love this family, and of course them kids can do no wrong in my book!! I did tell Amanda that her and Jon can have a date night, and pick a place to go to dinner to, and I'll do an Aunt Christie night in the hotel. Maybe play a game or something!!! I'll have others with me as well, all the kids that are coming are near and dear to my heart!!!

So, this is the first family, and they are in the room with ME! With of course Chris, Tyler, and one other, who I will introduce in the next installment!!

How exciting! I spent my 40th at Walt Disney World as well and it was one of my favorite trips! Have fun!!

Next up and last in our room with us, is our nephew Matt. He was with us for Amanda's first trip, which was his first trip as well. He will be 21 in april!!

I've known him since he was 4!! Showing age again!! This is Amanda's younger brother. He's looking forward to drinking in Epcot, since he'll be old enough!!

He is one of my favorite nephews on the hubby's side, and one of the youngest. Chris's brothers are 10 years older...which is why all the nieces and nephews on this side, are older as well. Anyways, a couple of my favorite pics from his last trip....

That was BEFORE Tyler got way too tall LOL My sister in law LOVED this picture!! And I think it's up there in my list of favorite pics of these guys!!

Another of my favorites, we always had a blast on the busses!!! Matt was always game for whatever came his way. He didn't really care!! I think that trip I got him with pics of princess tiaras!! Yea, I definitely married intot he right family!! LOL

At first tho, he was working nights, so all he could do was sleep!! I threw this Pluto on him, and it didn't phase him a bit. This was after dinner on our first day during that trip, we returned to DHS with the kids and no Matt, or Jon. They were just zonked!!! I tried to wake him up, but it wasn't happening! LOL

So...that's Matt!!! I had a wonderful Epcot afternoon that trip with him, and just him and me, and it was awesome!! He's been attached to me since the beginning, and of course I love it!! Especially with family!! I've watched him grow into a wonderful young man, who teases me cause I have issues with grown people calling me "aunt" And he teases me all the time with it, and secretly, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Next up....ROOM 2!! To include a sister, and a BFF, wonder if they'll get along???!!!!

He is!!! Just hard to describe!! Makes me feel old to have nieces and nephews that ARE old enough to drink!! I can't even begin to imagine how you feel with one of your babies getting married!! UG! It happens in the blink of an eye!!

As my own kids have grown older and gone on their own trips..it is so neat to see them as adults in Disney. (well..one is not quite there as he is only about to turn 20 ) How cool that you will get to have your adult nephew on this trip.
