Ft Wilderness cabins in December?

We are looking at going to WDW for our little princess's first trip and second birthday. We are looking at Dec. 15-23. Of course, we are used to going during free dining and or with a discount. But, no discount or pin code. So pricing things out it looks like for our family of 7 (one under 3) that the cabin seems the best value. I am worried since it's in a campground there will be too many bugs in the cabin. I have arachnophobia and in general don't like bugs indoors. Anyone know how much you tend to see bugs in December in the Fort area and in the cabins? Also, how far a walk is it to get to the busstops, pool, and a place to fill your mugs and grab CS? Any information would be great. Thanks.

We stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins a couple of years ago and we were pretty disappointed. The cabins work best for families that are not on the DDP. There is no food court area and no place to fill your mug. Also, Fort Wilderness is HUGE! You have to take an internal bus to get to everything, even the pool. It doesn't take long to walk to the bus stop, but it can take forever for the bus to get there. I just felt like we spent lots of time waiting on buses. We stayed in Oct and did not have any issues with bugs being in our room.

my family has stayed in FW twice (dec 2009 and dec 2010) and LOVED it. it is a large resort, but if you have your own car you can park it right outside your cabin. you can always drive to the parks if you want to. study the resort map and pick a cabin loop close to the main pool. the resort isn't great for refillable mug; but your cabin has a full kitchen (mousekeeping even does the dishes!) so you can always buy drinks and store in the fridge. we have 3 young children and it is nice to be able to come back to a quiet cabin and not hear neighbors or worry if our children are being too loud for someone next door.

Our family has stayed in the cabins 3 times and we love it! I love bringing outside toys and knowing we can just relax and grill out on an off day and the kids can ride bikes and such. My youngest loves loves the evening sing along with chip and dale... S'mores by the campfire and evening movies!! December is by far our favorite time to go its soo festive a lot of sites go all out in decorating and the kids enjoy walking around to see them, for me its the place to go if you plan to cook most meals and have the time to really enjoy what the resort has to offer. Plus I love how quick we can get to mk

Oops sorry I missed a few of your questions... I have a fear of bugs too, I usually inspect e entire cabin for bugs before I unpack!!! I've never seen anything inside, I'm sure they spray, never really dealt with anything on the porch either we always get a golf cart it's pretty awesome to drive around... I understand though they are pretty pricey... However we have used the buses too and they aren't bad never waited more than 5 min and you can drive to the trading posts , limited parking but you can for quick trips. Pool Is awesome I have a two year old she loves the kiddie pool and kids aquatic area as well as the big slide...they stay open pretty late too so thats nice to end the day at the pool...they also host many activities each day At the pool! Good luck
