I'm eagerly awaiting an update, too. We're trying to decide between California Coast and a 4 day out of Galveston, so am trying to find recent trip reports for both itineraries.

I wound up abandoning my trip report after all. Oops.

Unfortunately, I had some issues with my hosting and all my pictures are gone. It wouldn't be a big problem if not for the fact that my external hard drive tells me to format it before use when I plug it in. All my travel pictures from 2007 through the first half of 2012 are on it. Including half of this trip.

I'm in the process of attempting to recover all my files from the external hard drive now. Thankfully I do still have all the photos from this trip report on Facebook so I will slowly go back and fix all the broken pictures.

I've decided I should finish this (though the information anyone could have gleaned from it is now woefully outdated, sorry! ), because I know I'll be visiting this forum again A LOT over the next year, thanks to DCL's change in policy for OBB and needing to cruise by November 2015. We've been moving our rebooking for 2 years, I don't want to lose it!

Day 8 - Club 33!

We walked around Toontown in the morning today.

Then we met up with some fellow cruisers for lunch at...Club 33! I was so excited and grateful for the opportunity to eat there. I had gotten an invitation to eat there four years ago on a previous trip, but it was only for me and not my fiancee (then boyfriend) also, so I turned it down. I really thought my one shot had passed, but lo and behold, another opportunity presented itself.

Below is just a fraction of the pictures I took. I took pictures of EVERYTHING! I don't know how I had time to eat, too. Though looking at all the food pictures now makes me regret I didn't eat more!

View of New Orleans Square from the balcony.

Obligatory picture of the wooden toilet.

Dessert

More dessert!

Caprese salad

Cheese selection, dried fruit

Cold cuts

Smoked salmon, capers, onions and cream cheese

Grilled veggies

Claws, shrimp, and tails

Soup of the day

We had to get alcoholic drinks. Because it's Disneyland, where else are you going to get the chance to drink alcohol (without breaking the rules)?

Bread basket

This is the butter.

Pan Seared Chateaubriand, Cabernet Demi Glace (8 oz., Center cut of the Filet Mignon, Truffled Mac & Cheese, Baby Tomato Salad & Blue Lake Beans)

Farmed King Salmon, Couscous Crusted (Grilled Alaskan Salmon, with Pinecone Syrup Glaze, Steamed Brussels Sprout Leafs, Carrot Beurre Blanc)

This was a lovely surprise at the end!

I admit, we took a bunch of napkins for souvenirs on the way out.

We parted ways with everyone after lunch.

Was Club 33 worth the price? For just the food, probably not, but getting the chance to soak in the history was priceless. We had an additional bonus meeting the person who sponsored us into Club 33 and had the priviledge of speaking to him and learning more about Club 33 from someone who was there at the beginning and knew Walt. Just WOW, I was in awe.

Day 9 - One Day Left until Cruise Time

The last day before the cruise!

We started off this morning with breakfast at Tomorrowland Terrace. To be honest, we knew it wasn't one of the better food options at Disneyland, but we wanted to eat there just to cross it off our list and I had read the breakfast options weren't too bad.

French toast with a side of bacon. I think it was okay.

In 5 years of traveling to Disneyland regularly, this was the first time I noticed it was a UFO!

We went everyday that Alex was free to get a ride on the Lilly Belle and they kept telling us she wasn't running. Thankfully on our last day there, we got some of the last few tickets for the day.

I rode the Lilly Belle on a prior trip thanks to a bit of pixie dust. The conductor could see how disappointed my best friend and I were, that they weren't allowing anyone on that day, so she took the two of us herself and it was a very relaxed, casual conversation, with just the three of us. It was definitely a different experience with every seat filled and the official spiel.

We headed over to DCA specifically to get pictures of Marie with Captain Mickey and Duffy, since we kept missing them!

Lunch of Mediterranean Skewers at Paradise Garden Grill.

We went back to Disneyland after lunch to go see Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. Sadly we discovered how awesome they were a little too late. I've been trying to figure out if we can make a stop at Knotts Berry Farm when we'll be in LA for a few days in July, but it seems unlikely. Bums me out that I was only able to catch the tail end of their holiday show last November. I was frustrated with myself that I had waited until my last day to see the show right before heading to the airport, but had consoled myself thinking, "I'll see them next time I go to Disneyland." Who knew there wouldn't be a next time?!

Ahem. Back to the trip report.

Goofy and Clarabelle were present.

We went with our favorites for dinner on our last night.

Clam chowder from Harbour Galley.

Turkey leg. So glad I convinced Austin to get his turkey leg, since we missed the late night buffet on Pirate Night.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream cone at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor.

One last picture of Sleeping Beauty's castle lit up at night.

I'm sure we loitered in Main Street for awhile after the park closed. I always hate to leave, knowing I won't be going back for awhile.

I loved walking past this display every night on the way back to our hotel.

Day 10 - I'm on a Boat! ~part 1

We used Karmel Shuttle from Anaheim to San Pedro. I've always opted for The Disneyland Express bus or a rental car between LAX and Anaheim, so I've never done a shared van before, but Karmel has always been highly recommended over Super Shuttle, so they were the first place I checked.

Luckily there were a lot of cruisers from my meet thread that were at Disneyland, so we were able to fill the van and split the cost. It was $16.50 per person with tax and tip, which I thought was very reasonable.

We arrived earlier than expected and though our Port Arrival Time was later than everyone else's in our small group, there weren't a lot of people there so we could check in right away. Check in was a breeze and then we settled in some seats until it was time to board.

Once we got on, we were shuffled to lunch at Parrot Cay. We hadn't eaten much, knowing we would be eating a buffet lunch, so we dug right in. There were more plates than this, but at some point, I stopped talking photos.

Around 12:15, Austin left to go stand in line at Wavebands to get us reservations for brunch at Palo, since we were only able to get dinner online beforehand. After he came back from securing us brunch reservations for the next day, we finished up eating and decided to start exploring the ship.

At this point it was probably a little before 1:00 PM. Without my original photos to aid in jogging my memory, I only have the photos I opted to edit and the Personal Navigator to plot out the timeline for the first day.

I believe we went up to Deck 9 to check out the other food options at Beach Blanket Buffet and found our way to Cove Cafe. I'm fairly certain we decided to just hang out there until our cabin were ready.

We saw desserts and couldn't resist sampling them.

While we were waiting to board the ship, I had examined the schedule thoroughly and we both knew our itinerary after lunch would be: go check out the teens/kids areas during the open house, since it would be our only chance to do so, the Walking Ship Tour (2:30-3:15 PM), and then the Spa Raffle (3:15 PM).

Based on the timing of the latter two, I have to assume that staterooms were ready before 2:00 PM (at least on deck 6), because according to our pictures, we were able to take a tour of the Vibe, Edge and the Oceaneer Club/Lab before we arrived a little late to the tour.

Our home away from for the next 7 nights, 6637.

Vibe

Can you tell I really liked all the details in the Vibe?

Edge

Day 10 - I'm on a Boat! ~part 2

Oceaneer Lab

Oceaneer Club

We wound up arriving at the meeting place for the Walking Ship Tour a little late, but there was a large crowd and no one was there yet. After we stood there in the hot sun for awhile with the crowd and still no one showed up, we gave up and decided to head back to our room to unpack. We did go back up at 3:15 PM for the spa raffle (also a little late again, hah) but we didn't win anything and back down to our room for the muster drill at 3:30 PM.

We proceeded down to Animator's Palette, and the only thing I really remember about it was how steep the stairs were!

After the muster drill was over, we headed up to deck 9 for the sail away party. We found some seats in the shade, got a few streamers and decided to induluge in the drink of the day while enjoying the festivities.

Sunset Boulevard

Afterwards we went back to our cabin to get ready for dinner at Palo.

Day 10 - I'm on a Boat! ~part 3

Our reservations for Palo were set for 6:00 PM. We had second seating, so we opted to dine as early as possible so we could still go to the MDR and meet our serving team. I also knew, from studying older navigators, that we wouldn't miss one of the Disney shows on the first night.

I wish I could label all our food pics, but I don't have my original pictures. Oh well, time for some food porn.

Everything was delicious! Perhaps we were too full, but we actually felt the chocolate souffle was too rich for us. This is coming from two chocoholics. We enjoyed the panna cotta much more!

We found out later on that our server at Palo (I wish I could remember his name!) was roommates with our server in the MDR (whose name I also don't remember, or our assistant server ).

We were really stuffed, but we rolled ourselves down to Parrot Cay for our second dinner, which became a nightly thing. More on that later. We had dining rotation PTTAPTA, which we requested to put us in Triton's for formal and semi-formal night and Parrot Cay for Pirate Night.

Day 10 - I'm on a Boat! ~part 4

Despite everything we've heard about the amazing service of the MDR servers, ours were just okay. Perhaps our expectations were too high? There was another family that happened to have had our serving team before, so we did observe that they spent more time with them chatting, sometimes delaying serving everyone else's food or filling drinks. We liked our serving team enough, despite this minor annoyance, but they just weren't memorable for us.

Anyhow, more food porn! It's much easier to find older MDR menus than Palo menus.

Warm Banana Bread

Banana Butter Dip

Baked Crab Dip Martinique (Jumbo Lump Crab Baked in Creamy Cheese Sauce served with colorful Tortilla and Plantain Chips)

Island Spiced Seared Ahi Tuna (Marinated in a Yuzu, Soy and Ginger Dressing served with Fragrant Mushrooms and Fire-toasted Cuban Bread)

Cream of Green Asparagus With Crabmeat and Asparagus

Cold Cream of Mango and Papaya Flavored with Passion Fruit

Island Spiced Grilled Rib-Eye of Beef (Topped with handmade spiced Butter, Corn on the Cob and Double – baked potato)

Pan – Seared Grouper (With Baby Shrimp Lemon Butter Served with a Saffron- Herb Basmati Rice and Snow Peas)

French Toast Banana Bread With Coconut Ice-Cream and Caramel Sauce

Parrot Cay`s Sweet Temptations (A Trio of Crème Brûlée Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue Pie and Chocolate S`More Vanilla Cake)

I love desserts, so we always got the dessert trio so I could try more of them!

We're not the type to like wasting food, so I want to say we really did finish everything, but maybe not. Obviously, after Palo, everything was a step down in quality.

Somehow, we dragged ourselves out of there and went to Studio Sea to check out Mickey Mania which started at 9:45 PM, so we were a bit late, and then to Mickey's Mates after it was done, so I could window shop.

The window displays leading up to the Walt Disney Theater are so cute!

Walt Disney sans cigarette.

We retired to our stateroom for the night to find our first towel animal!

A swan?

Day 11 - First Day at Sea ~part 1

Our first activity of the day was Disney's Art of Entertaining - The Appetizer, in Studio Sea at 10:15 am. I had read about the series of demonstrations here and knew it would be something we would both enjoy.

The appetizer being featured was the Wild Mushroom Risotto with a Porcini Twist, from the Animator's Palate menu. At first we were grateful that they passed out the samples during the demo instead of at the end, since we had to leave a little early to get to Palo on time for our 11:00 am brunch reservation, but blech, the sample did not taste good, at all! Neither of us liked it and in general we both like mushroom risotto! What a way to cleanse our palette for Palo.

We got up to leave as soon as the demonstration was over and high-tailed it to Palo. Good thing on the classic ships, nothing is ever too far away. There was a napkin folding class that followed, which I was a little disappointed to miss. Oh well, you can't do everything!

We had the same server for brunch as we had for dinner the night before. He got us started right when we sat down and took us on a tour of the buffet.

Not a surprise, Palo brunch was delicious! Like a lot of people, we enjoyed brunch more than dinner. Just look at all the delicious food!

Pretty sure we sampled a little of everything!

Day 11 - First Day at Sea ~part 2

Half Grape and Gorgonzola half Margherita pizza

We wanted to try the famous grape and gorgonzola pizza, but only got half just in case. I believe our server recommended us to try the margherita pizza. Both were good, but I don't think we were amazed by either. We must've had our expectations set too high after reading all the praise.

Frittata

Apparently we ordered this, too. Not sure why I wanted the frittata, but I guess it looked good when we were looking over our options. I'm guessing this was just okay if it wasn't too memorable.

Oysters Rockefellar

Chicken Parmesan

Now THIS definitely lived up to the hype! Will get again.

Pasta of the Day, no memory of what it was.

Veal Saltimbocca

Strawberry Soup

So good, we ordered a second one!

And finally, dessert. I was able to fit one of each dessert item on one plate.

We left Palo at around 12:15 pm. We decided to head over to Beach Blanket Buffet to check out our lunch options for the rest of the week. After enjoying the strawberry soup so much, we found some stomach space to sample a bowl another chilled fruity soup.

We went back to our stateroom, to change into casual clothes, and then headed back to Studio Sea at 1:00 pm for the DVC presentation. We had considered buying points at Aulani the year before, but then decided it wasn't the right time, so we wanted to find out if there were any special deals.

When we came back to drop off the free gifts were received at the presentation, there were goodies in our FE.

We lingered a little too long and walked into the 2:00 pm adults only Animation class at Animator's Palate just as it was starting. The featured character was Mickey! Unfortunately, we found the class boring and we left about 10-15 minutes in and went back to our stateroom.

Feeling a bit hungry, we headed to Pluto's Dog House and Pinocchio's Pizzeria for a snack before meeting up for the Art of of the Theme Show Tour at 3:00 PM.

I believe this was bratwurst.

One of each of whatever they had out. I don't think we ever ate the pizza again.

The tour was entertaining. We had a gentleman who asked a lot of questions about Disney as a company and working there versus generic ship questions, so that's always interesting to hear. Too bad I can't remember any of that information now.

The biggest thing we took away from the tour was how many different carpet patterns were used on the ship. And, as a result, we took a picture of every the ground the whole cruise, when we noticed the carpet was different or had changed. I wish we had labeled where all of them were taking. Maybe I'll throw up a carpet collage at the end of the trip report.

After the tour we went back to our stateroom to get ready for formal night. I wanted to get there early to get pictures with Mickey and Minnie.

When we got down deck 4 at 5:00 PM, there was already a short line formed for Minnie. The line moved fairly quickly and we were able to take pictures twice within a 15 minute span.

Minnie!

Unfortunately, both our pictures of Minnie with Marie and Minnie with us turned out poorly. Guess we'll have to try again the next cruise.

While we waited for Mickey to appear, we wandered around the area.

What a happy surprise when we found out the Captain's Welcome Reception meant free alcohal. Hehehe.

Mickey came out a little earlier than planned (though Minnie was also ahead of schedule), and of course being Mickey, the line was a little bit longer by the time we came back around. However, we still got in two rounds of pictures within 15 minutes, again. All our pics wound up just a little blurry though...perhaps we should wait until after pictures to get those free cocktails.

After the pictures with Mickey, we headed into the Walt Disney Theater to find seats for The Golden Mickeys show at 6:15 PM.

We went back to our stateroom after the show to find a monkey hanging around.

We relaxed in our stateroom for a bit, but we were getting hungry and dinner wasn't for another hour, so we decided to head up to Beach Blanket Buffet for our first dinner. I fibbed and told our server we were rushing to make the later showing of the Golden Mickey's to get quicker service. We still wanted to enjoy the MDR and didn't want to be late (nor admit that we were planning on eating a second dinner :P).

I think we were in and out of there in less than 30 minutes, seated by 7:44 pm at Beach Blanket Buffet and seated at Tritons by 8:14 pm, based on the time stamps of my pictures.

The Golden Mickey's menu was being served in all the dining rooms that night.

Jumbo Shrimp and Porcini Mushroom Tagliatelle with a Garlic-Porcini Mushroom Cream Sauce topped with Parmesan Shavings

I don't remember it, but apparently it was really good.

Oven-roasted Duckling with Onion, Apple and Marjoram Stuffing, Snow Peas, Glazed Carrots, and a dark Cherry Glaze
