We were part of a grand gathering and had two family suites and one preferred room...the two suites were next to each other and the room was on the other side of the hall a few rooms up...very close but not next door...
We just loved the family suites and the kitchen came in so handy for getting breakfast while everyone was getting ready...we did not have the dining plan but even if we did we would have saved the meals for lunch and dinner (plus we had a car so were able to run to Publix for cereal, mile, fruit, doughnuts, etc)...the food courts are always so hectic in the morning...eating in the suite is such a civilized way to start off the day!!

Well I am still debating the AS Suites or POR for this summer. We went to POR last summer (with FD) & the whole time I knew we needed the extra space/bathrooms etc. It's just alot cheaper to go with POR. I am also concerned that there will be tour groups staying at AS Music in the summer & really don't want to deal with crowded food courts or buses full of teens. I have my own thank you!!!
![]() ETA: I just called WDW to see what it would cost & for our stay the AS Family Suite would be $1200 more than POR....ugh.

So glad I found this thread, thanks OP for starting it
![]() I had been leaning towards two rooms at Pop, but think we may try this route instead. I know most people get the connecting rooms they want but between bot having to worry about that, a microwave and a coffee pot, this might be an easier decision than I thought. Off to go read the thread now |

You also get a queen size bed in the bedroom and the family suites are located in the buildings closest to the pool, food court, and bus stop. We had the dining plan but still used our kitchenette daily for morning coffee, washing out refillable mugs and our kids' sippy cups, quick breakfasts in the morning, refrigerating juice, milk, water, snacks, etc. We really liked having a suite layout too. Yes getting two standard rooms may be cheaper, but you get a lot of extras with the family suite that make up for the higher price. We loved it |

Ok so I lack the attention span to read this whole thing. Is the freezer large enough to freeze some water bottles? Anyone know the actual dimensions of the fridge?
Thanks!! |

We will be going with me, DH, DS10, DS8, DD6 and my mom.
We are torn between 1) 2 rooms at a value, 2) the ASMu family suite (the AoA's are cool but not worth the extra$$$) 3) staying off site. We stayed off site last fall and LOVED it. But the free dining offer is tempting and my DH has decided he does not want to hassle with packing lunch. When you add up all those QS meals, we won't save much staying off site (about $400 compared to 2 values). I would do 2 values but I worry about not getting connecting/adjoining rooms ( I don't want mom to feel like she is in charge of my kiddos if we are in separate areas and 1-2 sleep with her). My mom worries about being totally uncomfortable on a pull out sofa bed. My DH just wants cheap But we all like our space as well. Thoughts??? |

I will be staying here before my cruise next year. I have never stayed at this resort and thought I would give it a try. The theming looks very cool!

Is the Family Suite at All-Star Music is larger than Standard room? And Calypso and Jazz has family Suite! I can't wait for Feb 2013!

The family suites were made by using 2 rooms, and moving stuff around a little. The actual bedroom is a bit on the small side, but still has a queen sized bed and a chair in it. The space they took away from that room they used to place the kitchenette.

I was able to book us in a Family Suite using the discount for June. I'm thrilled. I do need to call and add a request. We like top floor at the value resorts so there's less plumbing to make alot of noise above us. LOL
We needed 3 sleeping beds of some sort this trip and 2 bathrooms so this resort fits the bill. I much prefer staying onsite over offsite so we can use the Disney buses. It sounds like the couch and the chair will be fine for the kids to sleep on for 6 nights/mornings (my kids are teens and like to sleep in). So here's my question - Are the penny machines near the food courts or in the lobby? I like to get pressed pennies with the intention of making some jewelry with them. Alot of times, I get up earlier than everyone else, tour the resort and get my pressed pennies. |

We've got a family suite booked for June too. So looking forward to all that space. We were going to stay in one on our last trip but I chickened out on spending that much money and we stayed in a townhouse offsite instead. Bad choice. Very much looking forward to being back onsite this time. As for the penny machines, I think they are near the doorway into the food court. It's been several years since our last stay at one of the All Stars tho so I could be wrong. But the building with the food court, gameroom, and lobby isn't all that big and spread out so they shouldn't be hard to find. Last edited by crusoe2; 01-05-2013 at 10:39 PM. |

I have a question about the family suites. Posted this on another thread earlier but haven't gotten any responses.
I saw mention that the furniture in the suites had been reupholstered so I googled it and - sure enough - found some pictures of a suite with new upholstery, flatscreen tvs, fresh paint scheme, and a few other updates. The suite didn't look like it had gotten a complete refurb - just got freshened up. Does anyone know if they have done this with all of the family suites or just some of them? |

Adjoining rooms?
Does anyone know if the family suites can adjoin to a standard room? We are two families vacationing together and would find the adjoining rooms convenient.
