They probably *could* have it open by then, but I doubt that they will.

I wouldn't be suprised if they started previews for it. I'm sure they would love to capitalize on these crazy christmas crowds next year.

Construction started a month or two ago. There are pictures on various sites. Disney was projecting a 2014 opening. Latest information is early (1Q?) 2014.
I don't think anyone really knows the construction schedule. I agree with the PP, it certainly could be done by the end of the year if Disney follows Universal construction schedule with Transformers and schedules overtime. Some reports suggest Universal is working 24/7 on Transformers. Universal wants to open Transformers for summer of 2013. Give people a reason to visit Universal for the summer season. Does Disney need to give guests a new reason to visit during Christmas? I wouldn't plan a trip anytime in 2013 if the purpose of the trip is to see 7 dwarfs mine train. This is the rumors and news board. At this point a 2013 opening for mine train is a rumor (speculation) and not news. Doesn't mean it won't happen but don't base your plans on it happening. edited to add--I'll speculate at least part of the attraction, the gift shop, will be open in time for the Christmas crowds. As a PP said capitalize on Christmas crowds. |

I would say the chance of opening in November 2013 or even 2013 at all are so minute it is almost zero. The coaster itself isn't even fully installed. Once that is done comes the structure for in and around the track. Once that is done/potentially before it starts comes testing of the actual coaster itself. Then comes installing the animatronics for the darkride scenes. The it needs to be tested all together to make sure everything runs smoothly. That's a lot to do still especially considering disney's focus on making things as perfect as possible when they open so the can ignore it until it needs a refurb like no other. (see Big Thunder Mountain and Test Track)

Better be open for at least previews by the end of 13. Two and a half years to build a single attraction is just crazy. The entire carsland took about that much time...

The actual attraction hasnt been under construction for 2.5 years. What you see already in the New Fantasyland has been. It was used as a staging area for the other construction. What is odd is that the entire attraction is surrounded, so there is only so much work that can be done during the day. Most of the heavy work will be done overnight, so that will increase the construction schedule.

I was at New Fantasyland a few days ago. The construction looks like it just got underway (there's a small section of the track, but that's it). The sign outside the ride still says 2014. I hope it opens earlier because the huge construction site is right in the middle of New Fantasyland.
