Are the movies in the theatre on the Dream free?

First time cruiser here with lots of questions which may be silly. I understand the movies are shown throughout the day but are they free? Is there a concession stand with snacks?

Movies are free, concessions are not.

Movies and all shows are free. There are some snacks that are not but it is nice to enjoy a new movie in a great theater anytime you want.

The movies are included in the cruise fare. You can purchase snacks outside the theater...or save your money by making a stop on the pool deck and bringing down a snack!

That's a great idea. But will they let you bring the food in there? Say chicken fingers and a coke?

We were told that we could bring in a "snack," but not a "meal." I don't know what the difference is, but DD brought in chicken fingers and fries with a drink.

Generally, yes. We've run across an occasional CM who thought otherwise (especially at the WDT). But they were wrong.

On my recent 12/8/12 Fantasy sailing they were very strict about food being brought into the Walt Disney Theater. To be clear - the concession snacks they sell were perfectly fine but the "real food" like chicken fingers, pizza, burgers, etc was lot allowed. I overheard a CM explain to the several that were turned away or asked to step outside with it, it's due to the *smell* and it disturbing the experience for others.

For our previous Dream cruises in 6/12 and 8/12 I don't recall anyone bringing in "real food" so I don't remember people being asked to step out with the real food.

Watching free movies is one of our favorite things to do! Have a great time!

A bit out of the topic but does anyone knows how busy would the theatre be on a 3-nights bahamas cruise? I guess it will be busier on longer cruises with sea days but if its for a 3-nights bahamas cruise, what's the chance of the theatre being full or can we just turn up 5-10 mins before the movie starts?

The only time I've seen the BV theater anywhere near full on a cruise of any length was when the movie was a new release. You can normally show up 1 minute before show time and get all the seats you wish.

Thank you. So it's first come, first available. Do you need to sign up for the movies or just show up? I'm trying to understand all the different things so I don't miss anything.

You just show up at the theater. The Navigator typically has a special section that highlights the movies playing that day and the times (from first thing in the morning through late-night). There are no reservations at all. Last month on the Fantasy, even the new releases (e.g., Lincoln) had plenty of seats available right up until (or after) the starting time. I watched the first half of Lincoln one morning and then went out to the pool, waiting until later in the cruise to watch the second half late at night after the kiddos had gone to bed.
