Is a 16" x 20" photo mat too big
Pottery Barn has some cool frames with oversized mats. I like the look for autographs, but the one that fits a 5" x 7" photo is 16" x 20". I would likely have to carefully carry it on. Is this too big to take to guest services?

I did one that size.It came out unbelievable. It had 2 spots for 2 pictures- 1 picture on top of the other.
Between the 2 pix Mickey signed Your pal Mickey Mouse. Everyone else signed around the mat. I brought my own small colored sharpies. The top pix was the Magic as we tendered out to Grand Cayman- blue water, blue sky. The bottom pix was all of us in the atrium dressed up with Mickey It came out awesome. No one else on our trip knew I was doing this, I snuck it down to GS and it was a xmas gift for my parents Linda

Thanks, Linda. Glad to hear you had no issue and it came out so well. I am going to buy one and a package of Sharpies.

I used that size mat in the past also with one opening and they both turned out fantastic!

Keep in mind that the photos they sell on the ship are usually 8x10 and 6x8 if memory serves. Thus, it will be fine for matting your own prints, but not those purchased on the ship. Walmart sells a signature mat that size with an 8x10 opening for about $6, which is another option.

Yes, thanks. I plan to buy the cd. Not sure if I'll buy the $149, $249, or $349 option yet, but I love having the ability to print them any size and throw them into Shutterfly photo books.
I actually found a frame at Pottery Barn Kids which I'm going to get--it is 18" x 18" with a 5" x7" opening for $31 + free shipping. I have a lot of PB wood gallery frames so it should match what I already have. Picked up a pack of fine point sharpies today plus fabric markers for the pillow cases so I'm making progress! |

I did a 16x20 mat with an 8x10 opening. I love how it turned out! I did drive to port though, so I stuck it in the huge front pocket of my suitcase.

Mat transportation?
How is everyone transporting these large mats if they are flying? Even if you carry on to the airplane I'm afraid it would get crushed in the overhead bin.
Thanks. |

Mine was only 8x10 (4x6 opening), but I put it in a cardboard photo mailer at the bottom of the large suitcase that I checked. It made it to the ship and back home in perfect shape. I plan to take an 11x14 mat (5x7 opening) in March and will transport it the same way.

We drive from Central Virginia so the only hard thing for me will be carrying it on and off the ship.
