Cozumel & Grand Cayman
I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times already, but I can't seem to find a summary. We are traveling out of Galveston in late Feb and looking into what to do while in Cozumel & Grand Cayman.
Looking for a NICE beach (willing to pay extra for something really nice). All inclusive is a bonus. Do any of the high-end resorts do day passes? We're traveling with our three kids (7, 5, 2). Just looking to hang out on a beautiful beach, maybe some fun pools with good food and drinks. Suggestions? Thank you! |

Cozumel has Paridise Peir and Mr. Sancho's for private beaches with drinks and food included. We are going to try Mr. Sancho's in March...

Swimming with the Stingrays on our cruise was probably the highlight of our trip. We did the excursion through DCL while in GC.
In Cozumel, we took a cab to Chankanaab National Park: http://cozumelparks.gob.mx/

In Cozumel Nachi Cocom has been recommended to me. Google them, it won't let me share a link.
We're going to try it out in late Jan. I'll let you know what we think of it. |

We went to Nachi Cocum last Feb and really enjoyed it.it was quieter then I think Mr. Sanchez is but that was fine with us. The kids played in the pool and on the beach. My parents enjoyed the covered area to get out of the sun. They are going back this Feb and then we are going back there Feb 2014. I highly recommend it. Food was great as well

BUT 1) The water was FREEZING!! The pool was so cold no one could get in. The ocean water was a tiny bit better, but not much. It was cloudy/rainy the day we where there, so maybe full sun would help that. 2) All inclusive food and DRINK equals a rough crowd by the end of the day. Unlimited tequila shots led us to see some things I would NOT want my kids to be around( and we are pretty chill). For example, we saw a fight and more than one flashing. |

Grand Cayman beaches
There are two beaches to consider in Grand Cayman: Seven Mile Beach or Rum Point.
You would need to rent a car to reach Rum Point. It is about a 40 minute drive from the port area. Taxis are too expensive and buses do not go that far. The beach is just one individual property and has lots of shade. The water is usually quite calm close to shore and is very shallow for about 50 yards or more from shore. There is one restaurant/bar, one watersports rental outlet, and one gift shop. There is not much else within walking distance. Lounge chairs are free at Rum Point - first come, first served! Seven Mile Beach, despite its name, is a ribbon of sand about 5.5 miles long with a few hotels and many condos along its length. There are several areas along that beach that are well know such as Royal Palms, Tiki Beach, Governor's Beach, Public Beach, or Sea Grape. Taxis or buses are relatively cheap and frequent and take less than 15 minutes to travel to the port (depending upon traffic). Public Beach in particular has playground equipment for the little kids, restroom facilities, some chair rentals, frequent food/ice cream trucks, and a bar on the adjacent property. The beach has little shade and it drops off rather quickly. Water is usually reasonably calm close to shore. |

We went to Royal Palms and we are going again next week.We love it.We found the waters do not drop off but you can go out quite a ways.It is beautiful. Cozumel on the other hand had a huge drop off- we remember because my Mom lost her footing so we talk about that all the time and we are not going back there this time.
The facilities are nice and clean and was a huge surprise to us. Nice bar and we had a great lunch- the bar is low key during the day, just people milling around, nothing to worry about with little ones. Goggle it and you can see.Have a great time!!!!!! Linda
