Big announcement for New Years Eve??
SO on Christmas Day we swore we heard the announcer say there was going to be a big announcement for Disney parks on NEw Years eve... any speculation as to what it might be?? just got back about 6 months ago but I really want to go back again to see the new Fantasy land finally complete!!

My guess is an announcement to the general population (aka non-disers) about Limited Time Magic! Or..... Avatar land :-/

If there's any announcement at all, it will be to promote Disney's 2013 marketing initiative, Limited Time Magic.
Every year, Disney fans are excited by reports of upcoming marketing events or New Year advertisements. Then, every year, the same fans are disappointed when the it's just the launch of the marketing hype for the coming year. Announcements of new or enhanced Disney attractions are made in the business press and on the Disney Parks Blog. There's no reason for Disney to spend big money on paid advertising or on wining and dining journalists (and very friendly bloggers) to get the word out on something that won't actually be available to guests for several years.

But.. the initial Limited Time Magic Announcement is tomorrow the 28th? They repeatedly promoted that ALSO in the same parade program.
But then ... Maria Menounnous (*or however you spell it) said at the very end she had a special "Disney Parks" announcement on Tuesday... I don't believe it's major construction or expansion... but I also don't believe it's LTM either.

It could very possibly be an announcement for fastpass+ lets hope it is something else though.

 Been to Disney World 12 trips Been to Disney Land 2 trips That equals 14 trips all dedicated to Disney and I live no where close to California or Florida Most recent trip was to Walt Disney World we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and it was awesome! |

To anyone who expects a brand new announcement about a new attraction, new land, or new park tomorrow tonight (12/28/2012) or New Years Eve (12/31/2012):
Please come up with even a single example in the last 20 years of Disney using paid advertising (or a marketing event) to announce a major Walt Disney World enhancement that wouldn't open until 18 to 48 months later.Disney spends money to get people to plan WDW vacations in the near future (zero to 12 months ahead), not to defer vacations until the distant future.

It is really obvious. Last year it was announced that MK and DL would be open for 24 hours on February 29. This year the announcement will be that they will both be closed all day February 29th.
