Some idiot set it on fire and we don't know when it will reopen. So many lost jobs now.)

I just have to get out and start now.....

so what is w6d1 and w6d3 mean....sorry for not knowing....just call me newbie...
You do not have to have Nike shoes. You can buy an attachment to use on other shoes.

Wish the apple people would have said that.

I had bought two of them, one for my DD who is using my old touch(which it will not work with I found out) and has Nike shoes and one for me with iphone 4 without Nike shoes. (it will work with my phone but they never said I could get some attachment)

I took them both back and got my money back...

Now our mall is closed for who knows how long because of the fire yesterday. (set by someone on drugs and destroyed up to 22 stores) From what they say the part with the Apple store should be ok but for now the mall has no re-opening date at all. (so sad for our area too, big loss of jobs and income to all) No Apple in my area other than that. Not driving to another town for that.

I will try it without the Nike thing for now...just need to get started is the key!

a-I have never run before
b- start by walking and training now?

I started the C25K in Aug and finished the second week of Oct. I moved on to a 1/2 marathon training program. I'm using the run/walk program in the Marathon for Mortals book but there are a lot of options out there. I'm on track to do the Disney 1/2 marathon in January. I was never really a runner before this so if I can do it I don't see any reason that you can't. Disney has a pretty forgiving 16 min/mile cut off so I think it is a good choice for a first race or for slower runers or run/walkers.

To answer a quesion from another one of your posts "w6d2" means week 6 day 2 of the C25K program.

Just getting started is the hardest part. You really don't have to have an app or a Nike + or anything. All you really need is a decent pair of running shoes and you are ready to go. You can always pick up those little bells and whistles later if you find that they will be helpful for you.

Best of luck with your training.

My mom died of breast cancer in August, so my goal is to run the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure." My friend & I started C25K about a month ago, and now we are running 3 miles in 35 minutes. I think we moved off of the program, but it really helped to get us started!

Hello everyone! I've been walking 3-4 miles 5x's a week for about 3 weeks now. I just learned about the C25K and am ready to give it a go! I printed out the program and plan on loadig the app to my ipod tonight and starting.

I used to run in school, never really "enjoyed" it, but I did it to stay in shape. I can now only run about 1/4 a mile to 1/2 mile before my asthma gets the better of me. Does anyone know how this program works with building up that type of tolerance? The worst part for me is the length of time it takes to regulate my breathing back so I don't feel like a fish out of water! So any tips on that area would be really appreciated!

So, officially I am W1D1 and plan on checking in often and plan on doing a 5k this fall!

Can I join in?? I finished C25k in May and ran my first 5k memorial day weekend. I did it in about 35 minutes. I didn't think it was too bad for my first race! I have never run more than from the car to the store before this! I am still running 3 times a week, but run 1-2 times on a trail which is a lot harder. I do notice my times on flat running have gotten better since trail running. Takes me 45 minutes to do 3.5 miles on the trail (lots of hills), but about 30 on flat terrain.

I am thinking I am ready for 10k! I am running a 6k in October with a friend who is finishing up C25k, but I really want to run a half one day at Disney! Anyone here graduate to the 10k? I am thinking of usingHal Higdon's plan here: http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10knovice.htm Any tips?

I'm dragging this post back from the dead to see if anyone else is doing C25K? I finished Week 5, Day 3 this morning and I'm on top of the world. When they say that this is the toughest mental run they aren't kidding!

That run was by far the toughest I've done yet! Of course, tomorrow may be pretty bad also! I'm up to week 6 Day 3 for tomorrow and I believe that is 22 minutes straight. I'm just gonna take it slow and see how it goes!
