Cozumel beach... Cheap close?

First timer here.. Stopping off in Cozumel. Where is the best beach to go to? The excursions DCL offer are pretty pricey. What are other options to sit on the beach and soak up the sun?

Paradise beach is very nice. Short taxi ride from port. Beautiful beach, huge beautiful pool and bar area. Very clean bathroom/changing rooms. You will love it.

Another vote for Paradise Beach. As mentioned, $2 each for basic admission, and then $12 for those who want to do the non-motorized activities like kayaks and inflatables in the water. Cab for 4 was $15 each way.

2 options

Paradise beach if you are going to play, and Chankanaab national park if youd like to snorkel - both are great for kids...

Paradise Beach. Free admission. Chair $2 (put it near an umbrella). Wristband for "all non motorized water toys" $12. Cab $15 each way PER CAB, not per person. Your cab driver may try to sell you a package--make sure you know exactly what it includes before you decide whether it is a good deal. Example--does a family of 4 need/want 4 chairs? Does everyone want the "toys" pass?

Food available if desired.

Yes, paradise beach is great. Been there done that. However, I would not call it cheap. Add in the extras like transportation, beach toys, lunch, drinks, and you will see its not that cheap afterall.

Suggestion....

With just one day in Cozumel, you might consider renting a car (NOT a moped) and driving around the Island, really easy, and there are a TON of beach clubs to chose from. Playa Palancar with peacocks and tons of shells, Money Bar, Playa Corona, Rastas, Chen Rio, Punta Morena - tons, all free, some with pools, all cheaper than either Paradise Beach or Chankanaab.

They did make us purchase chairs for all members of our party-no choice, but we loved the clean facilities and fun beach!!

I agree with the rental car. Wifey and I rented a jeep last time we were there. Had a blast. Found some really nice beaches away from all the touristy places. There are Couple of quaint restaurants right on the beach. Only regret is we didn't put the top up soon enough. Got blistered.
