This is what I was going to say. We don't do the big rides and don't miss them, but there's very few at each park where you can't take a baby. Either do baby swap for those (very easy and quick) or skip them, which is what we do.

When you take small children, you end up focusing on different things than when you go alone as adults. This is not necessarily a bad thing.

As for characters, my girls have absolutely loved them at every age, including my youngest at 8 months. Every child is different.

WDW Trips: First trip January 2004! 1/2005, 1/2006, 2/2006, 1/2007, 12/2010, 1/2013
DLR Trips: First trip January 2006! 9/2007, 8/2010, 9/2011, 9/2012, 4/2013, 12/2013, 8/2014

WDW January 2015 for 4 days for DD2's 3rd birthday
DLR August 2015 for 5 days for DD5's 6th birthday
