4 day cruise with 3 sea days: Character Breakfast or Not?

So, we're sailing on the Magic on February 1 (just booked yesterday with KSF ). I've read varying reports on here about when DCL does Character breakfasts. Some threads say that they only do them on cruises that are seven or more days, other threads say that they do them when there are at least 3 sea days. Since we're only visiting one port on our four day cruise, that leaves us with 3 sea days. Does that mean we get a character breakfast? --Katie

Unfortunately, you will only have 2 sea days, not 3:

Day 1 - Galveston
Day 2 - Sea day
Day 3 - Cozumel
Day 4 - Sea day
Day 5 - Galveston

I am sure you will still have a great cruise!

Typically the Character Breakfast is on the classic ships, on cruises of 7 nights or longer with at least 3 full sea days or 2 full sea days and one late arrival port day (after 10:00 or so).

On a 4 night cruise with one stop you only have 2 sea days. Night 1 is not a full sea day (embarkation day). Nights 2, 3, and 4 could qualify, but you say you're making one port stop, so one of those days doesn't count. So you only have 2 full sea days. I checked your itinerary on the DCL site, and only days 2 & 4 are at sea.

All that being said, I know it has been reported that some 5 & 6 night cruises had a character breakfast, but I don't know what the itineraries were for those.

My best guess would be, no, there will not be a Character Breakfast on your cruise.

If it makes you feel better, we've had better interaction/pictures with more characters around the ship than during a character breakfast. Very few characters are involved with the breakfast (maybe the other characters are allergic to morning?) and they have so many tables to visit, they can't spend much time at each table.

The character breakfast reminded me of speed dating. They all had a planned route of tables and very limited time. The napkin hats were more entertaining for us

Character breakfasts are one thing that they parks do a lot better than the ship because the park and resort restaurants can control the numbers and the time factor to allow better guest interaction.

Character breakfasts on the ships have gone thru many variations, but are just too fast. Speed dating is a good analogy.
