Anyone own a Ninja blender/juicer machine?

My son had the tv on and the infomercial for the Ninja came on. Of course, he watched it They were showing the one that makes bread dough, cookie mix and blends/juices fruits and vegies into smoothies.

I am not interested in the dough making part, but the smoothie part is interesting to me. He is very fit, works out at the gym and does buy the store smoothies (which seem very expensive to me!).

Soooo- Kohl's had the Ninja professional in their ad for 139.99 - that I got them to price match another store for 129.99 - and used a 20% off coupon. Then I got 20.00 in Kohls cash. Paid just over 100.00 bucks total. It has the large blender and 2 personal size blender cups.

Is this a good deal? Has anyone bought this product and what did you like/dislike about it? I am thinking of giving it to him for Christmas.

I would also be interested if anyone here has the Nutri Bullet.
It is supposed to liquify anything into a true smoothie.
My husband, who makes protein shakes, etc. has been interested in this one!

We use ours to make smoothies and it does a fantastic job. I've never made anything besides drinks in it so I can't really say how it does at anything else. I think we paid around 80 dollars on sale but I'll have to ask my husband to be sure because he picked it up. I'm sure your son will love it.

My wife has the one like this:



She makes smoothies in it all the time for the kids. We make milkshakes also. The smaller cup we chop up blocks of cheese instead of buying the waxy shredded stuff in a bag for grated Parmesan for spaghetti (we eat a lot of spaghetti) and some parmesan basil chicken dish she makes.

She had a hand held blender thing that she painstakenly used for years making the kids smoothies and milkshakes. The one pictured above is really nice for a reasonable price.

I have the one in the picture above. I love it. It isn't the bigger fancier model. I think it was about $50. I use it mostly for smoothies and sno cones and it does an amazing job.

We have the Ninja Xl (http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-686...xl-blender.jsp) and LOVE IT!

It's the only blender we've ever had that truly crushes ice. I'm talking rock hard large cubes. Crushes them to powder in no time flat and doesn't tax the motor.

We're a family of 4 and make smoothies/milkshakes in it all the time. You won't go wrong with a Ninja!

Very effective and efficient, but also can be somewhat dangerous.

The blades are RAZOR sharp and a bit tricky to maneuver in and out. I don't have one myself, but a friend does, and she has cut her hand on the blades more than once. I recommend using a glove at first when changing the blades, at least for a while until you get used to doing it.

Very good idea - I will think about that when I am cleaning it up. I will also be sure to suggest that to my son (but what 29 year old takes suggestions from his mother????)

I am especially interested in how these machines handle vegies - making them into palatable shakes.......

Anyone do that, or are you just making fruit shakes?
