TIW - can we pay on split checks
Decided to do TIW this year instead of DDP. In Feb will be with my best friend and our kids, so 6 total. Will all of us get % off? Can we split the check for payment?
In Aug, my whole family is going and my ILs are joining for one night. 7 total. Same thing, can we split check for pymt and all still get % off?

I don't think you can split checks and get the discount on both of them. You'll have to put all the meals on one check to get the discount. Disney is very strict with the TIW card and every TIW transaction needs a manager's approval which is really a PITB sometimes.

I have used the TIW card for years. The check can't be split.

They won't split the check and allow the discount on each check, but what you can do is use different methods of payment for the check. In other words tell the CM you want to pay half the balance with this credit card and half with another credit card. They won't divide it up and give you two seperate checks though.

That is a relief! I HATED using it at the Rose & Crown Pub, but it paid the tip for the bartender.

We were there in October and we always had to wait for a manager to swipe the card at the lounges, specifically Rose & Crown and The Bellvue Lounge. On previous trips, we had to wait at the Outer Rim & Top of the World Lounge too. I don't know if the procedure changed since mid-October.

It's a new procedure. About a week or so old.

Thank you! I'll try to have others pay cash and just let me pay altogether

Last time we used it they were not thrilled about swiping three credit cards even though we told them exactly how much to charge to each. This was at Le Cellier. Curious if anyone else had a better experience doing this.

Technically the cardholder is supposed to be the one paying, so if you were able to pay with 3 different credit cards consider yourself lucky. I wouldn't count on always being able to do that

In those three trips we dined at Tusker House, Mama Melrose, 50 Prime Time, Liberty Tree Tavern, Biergarten, Chefs de France, Via Napoli (twice), Rose & Crown, Le Cellier, Flying Fish, Boma, Sanaa, Jiko, Maya Grill, Cape May, Big River Grill, Ohana, and probably a few more. Every single time the waiter simply said, "Not a problem".You are right though, it could change at any time, but thus far I've never had a problem getting the discount for fellow diners and having each of us pay. They always refuse to give us separate tickets, but haven't had a problem using different methods of payment for one check. |

Using one card and cash is fine, using multiple gift cards is fine, it's when multiple credit cards with different names on them that they will be cracking down.
Since servers can now swipe the card themselves they no longer need a manager approval, discounts will be watched closely and monitored to make sure the rules are being followed. The rule is the card holder must pay the bill.
