I have a rant. How can Christmas only be 15 days away? Can someone stop time, please????
It is always seems, despite my best attempt to have everything in place before Christmas, that I run out of time and am running around doing something on Christmas Eve. |

I guess I should add mine.
I am so over Christmas this year. I'm done shopping, I'm done spending, I'm done wrapping ~ I'm just done. And Christmas hasn't even started.  And yes, my beloved, I know it's an inconvenience for you having to shop for one person (me, your wife), but I managed to buy gifts for 15 people, as well as stocking stuffers for three of those people, so excuse me if you aren't finding me very sympathetic. I have a rant!
DH is the original Scrooge. I do all the decorating, shopping, wrapping, etc. He and I don't buy gifts for each other, so he doesn't buy anything (not even for his children - I take care of that too). The last few years we've given his son money as he was in grad school and that's what he needed. He's 28 and lives with his girlfriend (and has been for the last 6 years or so), who I've met maybe twice. This is also the child that we never hear from unless he needs something. He never even called DH on his birthday never mind sending a card or gift. DH can call and email him and he never replies or calls back. I think the last time we saw/heard from him was in July when he needed $$$ for medical bill (he has no health insurance). Last night DH said "since [son] and [girlfriend] are a couple we should buy her something for Christmas!" WHAT!!!!! I'm done shopping and wrapping. Who knows if and when we'll see them. (We've called and e-mailed to invite them for Christmas. We did this over Thanksgiving and we still haven't got a reply.) I said I don't even know where to start since I really know nothing about this girl. His reply "Can't you go to the Coach store and pick something up?" I just walked out of the room. If DH thinks its so important he can go to the mall and pick something out! |

My family is not big into exchanging gifts. I ask my mom what she'd like to do and we decide to do simple 15$ stockings, I thought for each other. Then she calls last night to tell me that she told my brothers SO about the stocking idea. Um what, I was only planning on buying for her and my dad and now I have to buy for brother, SO, and her three kids?
 I need to fix this!

I'll add, I have been asking DH to get me new Ove'Gloves for Christmas and I have even said which store has them and he has yet to go pick them up. And it is not a matter of him being too busy as he is currently a SAMD.

The pre-lit tree DH insisted on purchasing two years ago has decided not to light up in random sections. So it stands on sad, undecorated display until DH can get it working. Last night, he bought a miracle tool from Lowes that will supposedly fix the problem but fell asleep before taking it out of the package
 . (Just get on with it dude... so you can admit defeat, allow me put the strand lights on, and get those darn boxes of decorations out of my living room already! Ugh!)

ugh, WHY does everyone want to do Christmas at the same time? both sides of the family want to do Christmas on December 23rd, and it's just not going to work! we can't be two places at once! DMIL has offered to move her gathering to December 22nd, so, hopefully, that will work out, and we won't have to miss seeing one side of the family.
oh, and i'm going to have to work on Christmas Eve! i work in a church, and, normally, i'd be off on Christmas Eve. however, due to the family gathering on December 23rd and the fact that Christmas Eve falls on a Monday, which is the day i do the church's Sunday deposit and make sure everything is paid for the week, i'll have to work Christmas Eve morning instead to do the church deposit and rush like crazy, because the bank is closing at noon. ugh. but, on the bright side, i won't have to be back at work until january 7th.

I did the cards, I did the tree, I did the rest of the Christmas decorations, I bought the presents....just asked DH to hang ONE DANG STRING of lights outside....

Got one gift....for DH.
Nothing for anyone else yet...but BOTH dds got speeding tickets Thanksgiving week. I have paid both of them (remember, no flames!) and want to say "There's your Christmas present...oh yeah, and all year round when I pay your cellphone and Dad pays your car insurance." Sigh....but at least our tree is up and we have lights and our Santa Alien in the front window!

I have asked the kids and dh for lists for months now, but nothing. I like to get shopping done well ahead of time and hate the crowds. They will give me lists a few days before.
Too bad, so sad. At that point, you get what you get and you don't pitch a fit. |

My Christmas rant is my job. I am a contract attorney. I've read a lot of DIS threads this year about having to pay for your own company party, or how big the bonus is.
-no Christmas bonus -no Christmas party, paid for by us or otherwise -we can have Christmas eve and day off, but we won't get paid for either, so if I want to earn any money Christmas week I need to be back at work on Wednesday, and maybe work Saturday to make up for missing 2 days I am kind of surprised they even heat the building for us.
