When you book a room-only reservation on your chase visa do you get 6 months financing? Or is the 6 months financing only available when it's a disney package?

The 6 months no interest is for packages only.

That's what I was afraid of. I calculated the difference between buying a package vs purchasing everything separately. The difference is 1,500. Insane.

I feel like I've been tricked in the past and how stupid was I to not do the math before.

That's a pretty stunning difference. Please go back and make sure that each and every element of the compared trips are the same.

Get all the way through, both ways, to the point where you kow you are at the TOTAL, not the pre-tax subtotal.

Check the tickets, make sure they are exactly the same.

Drop the insurance.

Make sure the head count is exactly the same, with the same ages.

Make sure it's the same sort of room!

Make sure they haven't thrown Dining into the package.

Just go through and make 100% sure you're comparing apples to apples (and then make sure they are both the same type of apple, and then make sure you're not looking at one conventional and one organic, LOL). Because that's a pretty massive difference.

But if you haven't done so already, check out places like undercovertourist.com for tickets. They are a bonafide discount ticket company. When comparing their prices to Disney, note that Disney doesn't show taxes until you go to look at the shopping cart. If you wish to use UCT, sign up for their e-newsletter. It comes out on the 15th, and includes a link that will give you a small extra discount on top of their normal discount.

This is pretty shocking to me too... Dining is not selected. It is the same exact 8 day park hopper ticket.

I did apply a 35% Room only discount for the room-only reservation. However, the difference should not make THAT big of a difference.

In case you weren't aware, you can use a room discount and still get a package. The discount would only apply to the room portion, but it can be a package if that's what you wanted. As the pp said, $1500 is a huge difference between a package and pricing everything separately. I have done comparisons in the past between packages and room only + tickets separately and I have always come within just a few dollars difference between the two. Where are you staying and what are your dates? Depending on where you're staying, what time of year, and for how long, a 35% discount can be a pretty big savings, especially at a deluxe resort. For example, if the non discounted room rate is $500/night, a 35% discount would be a savings of $175/night X 8 nights (only an example going by your ticket days), which would be a savings of $1400. I would price the package out with the 35% discount and see what the difference is after that because getting a package vs buying everything separate should not be that much different in price with everything being equal.

That definitely seems like too big a difference. Make sure you are applying the 35% off to the room portion of the package as well.

And be sure you are including taxes. That really threw me off when I was budgeting for next years trip. I added up each component of the package separately, and that's what I was expecting the package to come out to when I put in all the options online, and was unpleasantly surprised when it came out much higher.

If you are just doing a package with tickets, it shouldn't be much of a difference. You could buy your tickets from a place like UCT, but it won't save you that much in the grand scheme of things, and having 6 months to pay it off might be worth it.

That's why we always do a package with DDP - I like having a full 6 months to pay for even the food portion! (I never book more than we "could" pay for right away, but it's nice to not have to drain the savings account all at once. By the time the final payment is due, we've had time to build up some padding again)

If you are not interested in the dining plan, the only thing you should be finding any cheaper by doing it separately is the tickets. And even in this case, I've yet to find tickets with a significant discount. Undercover Tourist and AAA are cheaper than Disney, but not significantly. The 35% discount on the room and any other room discount you find (i.e: AAA), can also be applied to with a package, as PP said. If you have the Disney Visa, I would probably just book the package and put it on the Visa card for the no interest for 6 months. The ticket discounts (at least that I have found) would probably be canceled out by interest from any other card.

Let me make sure I got this right. You can add tickets to a room only reservation that has a discount and then it will be considered a package? Then I will get 6 months financing on my chase visa?

How far in advance do you have to charge your entire package by? Is it 30 days out?

Yes. You can book a room/ticket package and have a room only discount on there. A room only discount simply discounts the room portion - it doesn't limit you to only a room only reservation.

Packages must be PIF at 45 days before arrival.

If you already have a room only reservation, you will have to cancel and rebook it as a package. If you call and say you want to add tickets to your room only reservation, they'll just put stand alone tickets on there which will keep it a room only.

We have turned RO into packages several times. Used the RO discount and coverted to package. Reservation number obviously changes. You even have the option to buy a one day ticket (should you find tickets cheaper elsewhere) and add DP if you choose. It is not like the FD when you have to buy two day ticket. There are many ways to book. HTH
