Weather in January

Can anyone tell me what kind of weather to expect for an early January cruise?

We're coming from Buffalo. Hopefully not bringing our cold weather with us.

I know January in Florida can be iffy. But what about Grand Cayman and Cozumel? Warm enough for water? The beach? How about while we are cruising?

Should I bring shorts and jeans/ pants? And how warm of a jacket?

Thanks. It's hard to imagine wearing shorts and not needing my winter coat in January.

The weather varies. We have done several January and February cruises with great weather and a couple where it was TOO cold. You should always bring one warm outfit with you--it prevents having to spend a ton of money in the gift shop if it happens to be cold! You'll also want a fairly warm (fall type) jacket for being on deck at night. It is cool when the ship is moving and the sun is down, regardless of high 70s during the day.

Most of the time, it is fine for swimming, etc. But then, there are those weeks when it is not. It is honestly impossible to predict your week.

We did the Bahamas on the Dream this past January! It was a 5 night Cruise, the first two days were too cold for swimming like high 50's low 60's, but the last three days were 70's and 80's! Its so hard to predict so definitely bring a variety of clothes and a jacket!!

I would think at the very least the grand Cayman will be nice and warm for ya (though can't guarantee no rain). Other than that, I am not sure. It could be cold in Florida and Bahamas...not sure about mexico's weather.

we were just on the Fantasy and it was cold cold water at Castaway Cay. It felt warmer in the afternoon when the sun was beating down on us. But it was warm enough outside mid 70's.

We have been there in Jan and it was in the 60's and really cold but it just depends on whether there is a storm.

it will feel MUCH warmer for you if you've accustomed yourself to the cold for a while... think of 60 degrees in the spring as opposed to 60 degrees in the fall.

Grand Cayman and Cozumel will be fine and swimmable all year round. It might be cooler heading out there depending on how things are in FL at that time. Maybe take a lighter jacket for the more northern parts of your trip.

Weather is a crapshoot . I plan to keep a watch on Mexico's weather about 2 weeks before we leave. We sail on the magic in jan.
