Florida discounts
We are thinking about taking a Disney cruise 10/26/13 on the Fantasy. I've seen that some cruises have Florida rate discounts. Can somebody explain how the rate program works for Disney. We are relatively new to cruising and I just want to make sure that I can get the best rate out there....this is already a tough decision for me since this cruise is twice as much as the last two we took.
On Carnival if you book early and the price drops from what you paid they will credit the difference in OBC....We were fortunate enough to get a little on both of the cruises we took. Does Disney do the same thing? If I book now as regular rate and a Florida discount shows up, will I get an OBC in that amount? My famliy is pretty much sold on doing this cruise so it may not matter what the price is, I just am having a hard time swallowing the price...We could take two RC or Carnival cruises for the same amount. Thanks for any help. |

The only time Disney will refund the difference for a price drop after the final payment due date has passed (and the penalty period kicks in) is if you add a Florida resident rate to your current booking. They refund the difference rather than put it on your account as an onboard credit. We have done this once, and have also just upgraded our stateroom category with the difference.
Hope this helps!

In general they wont add the florida resident discounts until a few months before, if at all. In our case it dropped a 5 night by about a third, ,maybe less I dont remember. You just have to keep checking in. I booked our Jan cruise with a the discount about 2 weeks before final payment was due.

And just a note - there have not been any FLR rates on the Fantasy yet. They have had restricted fares (VGT/OGT/IGT), but no FLR rates. That will probably change at some point (hopefully!), but just don't count on them.

Definitely a good deal, and now of course I won't pay full price. I liked it being last minute (only 2+ months of planning, but only 2 months of waiting too), and we don't care about certain shore excursions or cabanas, so the loss of early registration is no big deal. Nancy |
