Nasty smell by Aloha Isle / Dole Whip - The DIS Discussion Forums

At our trip to MK last week, there was an awful garbage-y smell at the "standing eating area" to the right of Aloha Isle. I had to move away it was so bad.

I noticed this on a previous visit as well.

I'd have mentioned it to a CM, but just then DW and DD showed up for us to ride Pirates.

Anyone else noticed this?

Yes, every trip, to my family and me it smells like sour throw-up..I mentioned it to a CM the last time we were there, and they stated "I don't smell anything"..ok then. Not sure what it is, unless it is the designated area everytime someone has to be sick?!? Who knows.

When I worked at Splash Mountain, I took the Utilidors all the way thru to the Frontierland entrace, the entrace to Adventureland was a bit down and the smell from Aloha Isle made that entire area wreak! From what I understand, it's from the mix/ingredients sitting out for a while. I can't remember for sure anymore, it was years ago. All I remember is it had something to do with the mix they use.

It's probably from the DSA right there...all the butts and other toxins.

~Wow. That sounds pretty offensive. You should send Disney an email, maybe they will effectively address this issue by adopting some different cleaning and disposal practices that will facilitate a much more pleasant environment for everyone. Thanks for sharing!

There are certain plants that have a urine/vomit odor. Unfortunately,I have encountered some in theme parks before. That might be it?

the same smell is present when Ive gone to Cedar Point where the Dippin Dots stands are. My guess is it's sour milk, when the ice cream from the Dole Whips drips on the cement and bakes in the sun, that smell bakes in the concrete. It does smell like someone got sick but Im 99.9% sure it's just sour milk in the concrete and probably hard to get rid of.
