I did put the ?, because it was a text I received from someone who SHOULD be in the know. However, it doesn't always pan out, as we all know.

Bob McKenzie ( TSN) is tweeting that the room and surrounding area have gone silent. No leaks, which should indicate things are going well. My fingers are crossed there is news when I wake up tomorrow morning.
You just know that if this works Bettman will be taking all the credit since he suggested he butt out along with Fehr. To me, it just shows what the problem was in the first place.

I follow a reporter on Twitter who covers the Red Wings (even though I'm a Sabres fan) and she just tweeted that a deal is not imminent though much progress has been made.

It looks like they are close, and I have a feeling we'll be getting some good news very soon. My only question is, why weren't they this determined and driven back in September when they could've saved not only the season, but a lot of good will too?

The 56-game figure was definitely thrown out there - Bettman needs to have some sort of schedule in place. In case a settlement is reached, they don't have much time to get the ball rolling. My cousin is in the ownership group for the Pens, nothing has been settled, no agreement has been reached - yet. Mario Lemieux says he's willing to stay in NY until they have an agreement, and Sid does like rainbow chocolate chip cookies
