How to book on the 2014 release day

I just realized that the day I see 2014 as a choice on the Disney website I don't know what to do. We have a dummy booking that isn't with a TA. Will this be a miserable Black Friday repeat?

When 2013 was released, I called DCL and had them change it. You may be able to go online and change dates, as well.

You can call DCL yourself that morning and have them handle that. Or you could consider moving the Dummy over to a TA if the TA will accept it. Then you can have them do it. We used to try and get up early and book ourselves. Now we use a TA. Altogether this has been a better choice, less stress on us, our TA knows our preferences and books us the rooms we like, we get some extra OBC, its a win for everyone.

One good thing about these boards is that you will likely have at least a day's warning when the bookings will open.

Hopefully, we have some warning ahead of time. We have a specific date in mind for May 2014 and this will be our first time booking any cruise. Would it be better to book online or call them on opening day?

You don't need to call. Pull up your res online and hit "modify." Very easy.

Be aware that calling you may have significant waits. Booking online or using a TA may be faster and easier.

Thanks for the info. Next question. Do you need the deposit at the time to book or is there a window of like 24 hours to give them the deposit? I know the dates open Dec 6 and we won't get paid to Dec 7.

When I go thru my TA, there is always a short "hold" window before they must have payment. I don't know if it is the same when you book with DCL directly.
