Where do you go for warm?
Being new to Europe has brought a few new things to me. For now I am cold and wet. I was thinking of our February holiday and wanted to a beach location that is warm and not crowded.
Being that most of my friends here are also in Europe, might I ask, where do you go to be warm on a beach? |

In Feb most people here (France) would go to Tunisia, the French WIs or Maurice. Egypt was popular as well.
It's too cold for us - in Spain, Turkey, Greece - for sunbathing or swimming in the sea but if it's just for the sun why not We go to Mexico or Thailand for the sun and sighseeing but that's maybe a bit far

Thanks Carrie, I want to swim and be warm. I know I have AP's and a DVC but just don't feel like Florida in late Feb/March. It may not be warm enough. We looked at the Canary Islands but again, we want to splash in water and be comfortable too.
I wonder as Americans how safe is Egypt for us? But we are just in the trying to get ideas of where to go stage. Great ideas Carrie, and Mexico is cheap compared to flights to Africa. |

That's why I said Egypt was popular.
I wouldn't go now if you paid me as it is too unstable for me and it looks like it's going to get worse sadly before it gets better. We go to Cancun via Miami with AA for around 600€ and then go down towards Playa or on to Tulum and relax - swim, visit the ruins and recharge our batteries Thailand costs more flight wise but is cheaper lodging and eating wise and you have some great beaches.

I always go to the same place: Hyatt at Taba Heights, Egypt.
It's a great place to just relax and do nothing for a week. If you're feeling adventurous you can do trips to Cairo and Jordan. Snorkelling there is absolutely amazing. Security is always a risk when visiting that part of the world but it's a closed resort and there are multiple checkpoints before you can get anywhere near any of the hotels. I always feel secure there. We've sailed most of the Greek islands and I like them. Santorini is probably the stand out island, it's beautiful. I have a soft spot for Corfu. I know a lot of the island is very touristy and tacky but there are some lovely parts and it's the first holiday that I went on with my gf. I've also done Spain (Barca, Valencia, Malaga), Canaries (Tenerife, Fuertuventura) and Portugal (Val D Lobo) amongst others. They're all ok but I much prefer Egypt and Greece.

Again, I also want to swim. I have been to Tulum, Mexico and liked it. But I am trying to stay more on this side of the world. Yet flights are cheap to Mexico.
Egypt is out for now. It is just not safe for anyone in my opinion to be flying into there. I am sure the resorts are safe but getting there might not be. |

From Amsterdam why not the Dutch WIs - St Maarten or the ABC islands - you might find some good prices as I'd imagine a lot of Dutch people will holiday there
You could always look at the Rep.Dom though we prefer Mexico from every point of view

We go to the Canaries quite a bit (La Gomera) but my ultimate winter sun favourite is Dubai.

Sharm el Sheikh International and stright to your resort hotel. If you want to go to Cario, there is just a little trouble and tear gass in Tahrir Square, avoid the center of Cairo and you will be fine.
