Its nearly here!!!

OMG 'the one with MIL' trip is in 12 days!!!!!
Background - Me, DH and DS (9 with ASD) have been many times before, few times to Cheyenne, but in last 3 years in the campervan, which we all love.
MIL was 70 earlier in the year but was having treatment for cancer, so we delayed the trip til now, and she wanted to go as close to Chistmas as possible. We've gone to see the Christmas things several times as its always stunning, but we normally go in early/ mid November, so park has been quieter and we have missed the really bad weather.

So, this time we are staying at Sequoia Lodge, 4 of us sharing a room. We should get there 3pm Thursday, and stay until 5ish on Saturday.

This is Nanna's trip, and we have to think about meals for the first time in ages (in the van we always can feed ourselves if we feel like it). Looking through the threads my concerns now are:
- where to eat? CM seems to be getting bad reviews - what's happening? I am quite nervous about food - I'm a picky vege on Slimming World, Nanna will want a sit down, we are not very good at being organised!
- Dreams - does it start at 7pm? (park closes at 7 on both days we are there) How long does it last?
- Any new must see's?
- Any tips for the Sequoia? Do you get a kettle in the room as standard?

I really feel the cold so I'm a bit worried about what the weather will be like!

You mention Cafe Mickey - would you like to do a character meal?

Oh yes -ds would be very upset if there were no characters. Might get away with arriving at 5.30 so they come towards the end.

Finally home!!! This was a really hard trip in many ways - knew it would be strange being a 4 not a 3, and Nanna and I don't always agree!

Nothing Disney's fault, but hard to find many highs as all rather stressful. We were there for the awful rain on Friday, all got drenched, I got mild hyperthermia. Nanna didn't really get it - complained on Friday that everything was empty (because of the rain!) so it must be rubbish, and on Saturday that it was way too crowded, food was too expensive, didn't like Cafe Mickey...! Personally I wouldn't go so close to Christmas again as it feels too hectic, and ds (who has autism) is shattered, and actually wasn't too well, and had a MAJOR meltdown last night when we got back to Nanna's.

On a positive note, Sequoia Lodge was lovely. We were in the main building on the ground floor. Me and DH were able to have a drink in the bar on an evening. We got home in one piece, and despite some fraught moments no major fallouts! We did what we promised and took Nanna to Disney!

Aw, shame it was so stressful but like you said you did what you promised and took Nanna to Disney and it must have made a nice change for you and DH to have that drink on your own. You'll appreciate your next trip all the more now - any idea when it'll be?

Already promised ds we will go for his birthday in Feb in the camper - so not very far away at all! That will be back in our normal routine, and should be less stressful. Plus, we all have annual passes that will be valid and DS' Easy Pass for the year so there should be no queuing for tickets (took 40 minutes queue for a carer ticket on Saturday), it will only cost us the fuel and tunnel (on Tesco points), oh and a birthday lunch in Cafe Mickey!

On a positive note, I seem to have lost weight while we were there!
