Taping of Disney Parade - still have MK opening ceremony? - The DIS Discussion Forums

With the filming of the Christmas Parade at MK tomorrow and Saturday, will they still open MK with the traditional "show?" THanks!

My guess is no since I think they will already be filming by official park opening time.

I just called the front desk here at WL and the CM ran through her alert message and there was nothing about a cancelled rope drop ceremony. She read through the changes in the 3:00 parade, the flag retreat, etc but nothing about rope drop. From where is the previous info taken?

They have cameras and crew up in the train station during parade taping, so the train and lots of singers and dancers up there would be disruptive. Disney also has a thing with having 2 of a character out, so having Mickey on the train and Micky on the parade float would ruin the magic.

Granted, I dont have any specific data, so I may be wrong.

We went last year for the taping of the parade Friday and Saturday and they did have the show up above the entrance by the train...it was actually the first time I've ever seen it.

I got the info from the HUB (internal CM site) they have operational updates posted and it says no opening ceremony Friday or Saturday

Called front desk to speak to another CM and she said she was looking through the HUB bulletin and can't find anything about a change in rope drop for Friday and Saturday. Well this is frustrating.

We are here too. The CM here at MK just said she hopes there will still be the opening ceremony in 15 minutes. The train is already here tho so I'm thinking the characters won't be coming in on the train but hopefully we still get dancers and the Mayor!

The FULL version of the show should have started just NOW.

(If not, one of the shorter versions might be happening and begin within the next 5 minutes.)

You don't need to avoid it on either day, if your intention is to stay away from Main Street and just ride attractions and/or dine in the rest of the park in the first half of the day.

The crush of guests will stay on Main Street until about 1-2PM when the taping will be over for the day and all of those parade-watcher guests will be released into the rest of MK.

No opening ceremony of any type occurred at rope drop. Main St was crazy of course but the rest of the park was walk on from 8 to 11 am. Colbie Calliat was fun to watch on stage. After missing him at rope drop, we got our fill of the Mayor himself at our Plaza ADR.
