Dream Servers/Requesting Servers
I'm new here this is my first post. I've been reading the site for some time and received some good information.
I saw a post inquiring about good servers on the Fantasy. My family is sailing on the Dream 12/6/12 and would like good servers. I was not aware that you could request certain servers. How do you go about doing this? We sailed on the Dream last year and had an assistant server that my children enjoyed named Ytak. Does anyone know if he is still on the Dream currently? If yes, we would like to request him again. If not let me know some good servers and how to request one. Thanks |

Your Travel Agent can place a request for you.
However how will you decide who to ask for? The servers turn over regularly as their contracts expire. I believe 6 months is standard. So a great server you had last year is probably no longer on board. |

We had Pascal as our head server a few weeks ago on the Dream. He is from the United States and lives in Orlando (although his accent is French.) He has worked for DCL for many years.
A true gentlemen and a professional. For those with special dietary restrictions, he is the best!! |

It has become much more difficult to track where people will be after a vacation with the 4 ships. We've had servers with many years of seniority tell use that the head servers and above know which ship they will return to after a break, but that servers and assistants often do not have a confirmed ship assignment even though they have a date to report back. One told us that DCL would contact him with his precise date and ship, which he then had to accept or resign from DCL--he could specify what he wanted, but there was no promise that he'd get his request.
Another server told us that he had a special request for almost a year away--he wanted to be home for a family wedding. Since that would be 2 contracts from where he was now, they told him that they'd deal with his next contract before looking at the one to follow. He was hoping they would consider the dates that he needed to be home and work around the contract appropriately as one of the contracts would have to be a little "short" to make it work. Bottom line, sometimes even the servers don't know where they will be in 6 or 8 months! We typically find that our favorites aren't going to be on the ship where we last saw them. |
