How's the virtual porthole?
Hi - im looking at a fantasy cruise - there is a decent igt price. For 80 pp more i can get ogt. I dont want a verandah. Since the new ships were announced i have wanted the virtual porthole. I have been reading the igt/ogt/vgt thread and it seems most people either take vgt or igt. So how good is the virtual porthole (i have 2 girls 7 and 1 1/2 and it would be just the 3 of us in the cabin - grandma and aunt in another). Id love to hear thoughts on the virtual porthole as compared to an ogt room

We loved the virtual porthole as well. We found oursleves just sitting and staring at it waiting for a character to come by because we loved the animation. It also served as a makeshift nightlight at night.

I loved the virtual porthole! My mom and I cruised on the Dream back in June and worked so hard to get pictures of all the different characters that drifted across the screen. We must have looked so silly scrambling around getting the camera ready and standing there with it aimed at the screen.

We always stay inside, because it's just the two of us and we're never in our room. The porthole was very fun and cool! I kinda felt bad for the people without one. They're missing out.
Can I just say one thing though? It was VERY creepy having Gonzo peep in while we were changing.

Ok...stupid question about these....Can you turn them off at night? They look really cool, but the light from them would drive me bonkers if it is on when I was trying to sleep.

To the OP...we have sailed in everything from an inside cabin to a verandah. Unless I were to get an unbelievable deal on a higher category I would go with the Virtual Porthole cabins every time. |

We were aft, so at night, we could see the water at the back of the ship as it moved.

One night I walked out of the bathroom just in time to see virtual fireworks in my porthole!! It was so cool and unexpected since it was dark outside!
