RFD cups of soda at Pop Century does it work?

Last month we stayed at Pop Century and bought an Unlimited Refill Cup and brought an old resort cup and they both worked. I thought Pop Century had this RFD chip to stop the drink dispenser after each use or until two minutes had passed. I think the story of the RFD was a scare tactic that really can’t work on those kinds of machines.

I believe they tested these at one of the values, but they never went full on with the implementation of those.

No RFD chips in cups at Pop, I'm here now!

They tried the chips at All Star Sports last Sept. 2011. From the reports, it sounded
like they had a few issues with the system.

There was a trial of the RFID machines at one of the All-Star resorts awhile back. The trial has ended, and it has not been implemented at any other resorts. No way to know if they decided not to proceed with the RFID mugs at all, if they're going to be installed at some later date, or if they're looking at another system.

I'm going to close this thread. For further discussion on the mug program, please see our Refillable Mug FAQ thread at the top of this board.
