cats and counters!
How do I train a cat to stay off the counter? the cat has even gone as far as jumping on my stove tonnight
I allow them to jump up on the conter by my fish tank (which is seprated from the rest of the counter) to get on the fridge and cabinate tops (they sleep there). How do I train her? I have 3 cats but only ONE sassy one!

Two tricks that I have heard about are to put salt on the counter or tinfoil. Cats don't like the feel on their feet. Or you could get a spray bottle with water and spray the cat when you see it on the counter.

I've heard of the tinfoil method too and we tried it when we adopted our second cat from my grandparent's farm. She's pretty clueless and apparently missed the message that she's supposed to dislike foil, and water, and ...

Mine too. SSSSSSSSSSS noises don't work. In fact we haven't found any noise that keeps my one cat off of the table or counters. Sometimes it sounds like Satan is in the house with the noises coming from my mother trying to get the darn cat off of things.

I gave up. Honestly I don't care anymore. I put them down if I see them up there, but I just clean the counters before I eat.

I have heard that double sided tape works. Put it on your counter and they will hate it. I let mine on the counter too.

When I cook, I clean the counters and shut him away until I'm done. Other than that, I've given up trying to train this one! |

well, I guess the avalance of boxes worked (had all my movin ones on the table and they fell). she has decided the counters, cabnates are no longer cool places but the baby lettuce box (that takes up a good deal of my kitchen) rocks! guess ill be walking on a box for a few years
while on the topic, How do I get said kitty to LEAVE the kitchen? She wont venture into any other room (including the attached living room) without being carried and the minute I put her down she runs off to the kitchen. Shes not an only kitty (shes got two playmates, one who likes her and one who dosent). Any ideas?
