Flight Time on Debarkation Day: Alaska

Hey DISsers,

We're sailing on the Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver next summer. On the day we leave the ship, we'll be flying back out East. A couple of the flights I'm looking at depart the Vancouver airport at 8:30 am. Is this doable? I'd appreciate anyone who has advice or an opinion on this. Thanks!

No way. Even if you are the first group off, carrying your luggage, you are unlikely to even make it to the airport by then, let alone getting thru security and customs.

I would agree no way. Last time we got off a ship in Vancouver it took us almost 2 hours after getting off the ship till we got through security at the airport. It was a crush of people in buses and in lines. I do believe however there were multiple ships disembarking that morning.

FWIW, Vancouver is a lovely lovely place. If it's at all possible, I highly recommend staying for a night or two!

I SECOND THAT!! The Alaska cruises leave on Mondays, so maybe you could stay in Vancouver a day or two before your cruise? Stanley Park is so beautiful with Totem Poles, a bike or walk stonewall roadway riGht on the water and Vancouver Aquarium is in the Park as well! This is one of the worlds finest Aquariums with Beluga Whales, a tidepool petting area and a 3D Adventure movie that is so entertaining and interesting, done by BBC. Don't miss it!! ALOHA, Karen
